this whole situation reminds me of a story from back when i was at State

i rented a house with some other guys my senior year, a block or so down the street from The Goat. one night we were having a small party (20 people or so) and this kid that looked about 17 walked in the front door. none of us knew him, but we figured he was with one of our other guests, so we didn't make too much of it.

but the way he talked, we couldn't tell if he was high or drunk or what. slightly unusual for such a young kid, but hey maybe he was just a young looking freshman. well after 10 minutes or so of talking to the kid, we all start to kinda think something is definitely not right with him. after a little bit longer, we manage to get a phone number out of him

we call it, and it turns out the kid is autistic and had wandered away from his parents at the Western Blvd K-mart about 2 hours earlier, walked a couple miles up western blvd, into a residential neighborhood and into some random house. erlang is the interwebs equivalent of autistic k-mart kid

Yes what is written in the MacRumors thread is true, I was on the phone with Carl Frega and we had talked about the situation. Apparently he thought I was Eric Lang... I'm starting to the think the same thing......

my guess is it's kind of like when you look at ebay sellers with > 100k sales. they've almost always got like 10 or more negative feedback in the last 6 months screaming THIS GUY CHEATED ME DO NOT DO BUSINESS F- but overall they are still 99.8% positive feedback.

fregac is a high volume buyer/seller. he's bound to be involved in a few F- situations. just my guess

Okay, so just to shed some light:

I was dealing with Mars478. Eric Lang then contacted me from a similar address and number and gave me the impression HE was Mars478 . . . . and proceeded to spam me with hateful, profane messages over like 4 different sites and on AIM. So I figured fuck this, why should I put up with this kind of abuse for work I'm doing as a favor because I thought it sounded neat. Said to tell me what the proper address was to send the board back to and I'd wash my hands of the matter.

But of course that was Eric I told that to, and apparently he's just a kid with aspergers or something and has nothing to do with Mars478 (according to him). Ironically enough it was the TWW thread that made me realize what had happened, so I called and we worked it all out.

Also apparently I'm a meme now, heh.

Yep, me and Carl spoke on the phone. It seems that it was all a big misunderstanding.

I have received some messages from Erlang in which he expresses his frustration and sadness at what people posted here, but that is not for me to deal with. An internet forum board should not bring him to tears.

And yes, this does seem to have become a meme on this board. I wish NYC had a forum like this, this place is pretty cool!
