after 10 minutes of it showing me tix not yet available, i gave up. fuck that shit. plus, FanatiK informed me that good tix were upwards of $150 and nosebleed tix close to $70 or so. i like tool a lot, but fuck shelling that sort of money out for a couple of hours.

there were 3 levels of pricing for tickets (before fees): $55, $65, $75. not sure what dude is talking about unless there's hidden special tickets somewhere for sale.

my nosebleed tickets were $55 each. $115.85 after fees/taxes/whatever

^^ those prices are off.

But yeah, it didn't even let me search for tickets until about 10:15. Then it took forever. Thankfully, I was using 3 different browsers and had been sitting on hold waiting for an operator on the phone int he mean time. Between the 3 browsers and the operator, i got the tickets i needed for the group i'm going with... always fun.

yeah, I was talking about $150 for the pair. And that's to watch the show from way up in the balcony. Thanks, but no thanks.

I was expecting high prices, but that's just ridiculous.

Seems pretty typical of the other tool shows I've been to. Cheap compared to many other artists put there. To each his own

Yea, I still think those tickets were a little too much. Sad day when I can no longer afford to be a Tool fan.

Too expensive? It's supply and demand...and they could probably charge even more.

^^ There was no hooker with a penis, ticks & leeches, or pushit(hands down one of their top 3 songs) at the last show. Plus the stage set-up and production probably will be different, so yeah it's different and worth it regardless, unless you're just not a fan

they've swapped The Pot and Ticks and Leeches out for Parabol/Parabola.

I was really hoping to see Ticks and Leeches, but I'll take Parabol/Parabola over The Pot.

Leaving early tomorrow morning to get to Charlotte early enough to chill a little bit before the show. Can't fucking wait! Although I am a bit concerned about some of their more recent setlists. Sober is probably my least favorite song they've ever done so I really hope we get T&L instead

the ticket is gone.

^ It will depend on the weather (forecast has rain). If it's clear, probably a couple of hours early to tailgate. If it's raining, I suspect tailgating/hanging out will take place elsewhere until about the time doors open (I don't care about the opening band).

Wow. Awesome show last night. Personal highlight had to be seeing them absolutely nail Pushit. First time I've ever seen them play that track and it floored me how great they sounded. They also brought out a second drummer for Lateralus that extended that song to about 20 minutes. Could not have asked for a better show, one of the best sets I've seen them play, if not the best...

It was a good show, but not their best. The sound quality was terrible where we were (speakers sounded blown). The 2nd drummer was from the opening band. They did this same thing during the 10000 days tour. I enjoyed 46&2 a LOT until they lowered the screen right in front of Danny before his drum solo. The best show to me is still the walnut creek show during lateralus. They had these crazy cirque du soliel acrobat people swinging all over. It was insane.

^ The only shitty part about that show was how freaking cold it was that day. Early October and IIRC it was in the upper 30s.

It was a pretty amazing show, I would say probably the best one of the four times I've seen them. I was disappointed they played sober instead of T&L but it still sounded great. Hearing pushit live was absolutely worth the price of admission by itself, they blew that one out of the water, along with lateralus and 46 & 2. Damn I can't wait to see them again.

They don't' really play T&L live. Or are they doing that on this tour? Maynard said he loses his voices doing it properly...

love tool, but that song is awful.

20 minutes of it would have been torture.

^You have lost all credibility, lateralus is easily one of their best songs. How can you claim to love tool but think that song is awful, that really baffles my mind

eh, I got into Tool when I was in high school. Opiate, Undertow, and Aenima rock my socks off.

The change in their sound in Lateralus and 10000 days didn't grab me like their previous work. To me it's like listening to a jam band, but with distortion.

but maybe I should give it another try.

^ 100% agreed. And I definitely understand liking their older material, but they have pretty much kept their same sound and style throughout their albums - there is no denying a tool song when you hear it no matter what album it is on. At the very least just say it's not your favorite song, but to say it's awful and torture is almost blasphemous and downright ridiculous. Sorry, not trying to bash you just want to make a statement

well, I meant in the context of tool.

awful compared to other tool songs not awful compared to, say, nickelback.

and the torture would have been in the form of "20 minutes of this means they won't be older deep cuts playing shit like jerk off, swamp song, or bottom"

[Edited on February 6, 2012 at 2:12 PM. Reason : I think i last saw them live in like '97. but anyway, i'll give the newer albums another shot soon.]

or if they'd just stop playing stinkfist, aenema, & jambi over and over they'd have room for other songs

They played it quite a bit this tour, but not in Charlotte. They switched it out for Sober. They also played one song less than they had been earlier in the tour.

^ Yup... I like those songs, but they play them every show. Well, they play schism, 46 & 2, stinkfist, lateralus, jambi, and anenima just about every show. Which makes up half of the 10-12 songs they'll play.

Seeing hooker with a penis and pushit live was amazing. Seeing Intension was good too. A lot of people talked throughout, but I like that they played it. Sound was great in my section (all the way back, but dead center). They had a ton of new video material compared to what I've seen in the past. And i'm fairly certain they played new material while Maynard left the stage for a bit. It was too tight for it to be them just dicking around and they played it for a couple of minutes. Not sure if it was fully developed, but I liked what I heard.
