Although I may be wrong, but....

I am pretty sure the thighs not touching is a combination of factors:

1. Minimal level of leg mass
2. Minimal level of hip abduction
3. Anterior/Lateral glide of the proximal femur.
4. Anthropometric Structure

So, in other words, you could actually train to acquire this resting posture. Unless your anthropometry is fucked up.
