ICE are the biggest pack of bastards in this country today, hands down. I've been pretty desperate for employment, and my skill set (such as it is) lines up with a lot of their requirements, but I'll starve to death in a fucking gutter before I'll work for those nouveau-gestapo cocksuckers. Whoever masterminded that whole operation should get a blindfold and a cigarette, and frankly the cigarette part is too good for him.

^^^Well, yeah, most anti-immigration sentiment is rooted in race in some way, even when it involves people with blonde hair and stuff. I mean, if huge numbers of white people came from Canada, instead of people from our Southern border, folks would probably say racist things about Canadians.

But it's a little more complicated to me than this "If she were a white girl..." line indicates.

SHE IS A FUCKING CHILD

A CHILD

IF A 14 YEAR OLD CHILD SAYS SHE IS 22 CAN I LEGALLY HAVE SEX WITH HER?

IF A 14 YEAR OLD CHILD GIVES ME A FAKE NAME SHOULD I JUST DEPORT HER ASS WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO CONFIRM HER IDENTITY USING THE STANDARD METHODS EMPLOYED BY ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES WORLDWIDE?

I changed my mind I think. While her decisions were moronic, there should have been someone who noticed you young appearance + lack of colombian appearance + lack of accent + at some point, even if it was before she was put on a plane ..... someone should have investigated it.

She was possibly raped, abused, given drugs etc.. glad she survived and I hope that she moves on and understands that her actions had awful consequences, but she is a kid, and it has been proven that forethought is not developed until the age bracket of 18-24

*********************************************

I've been posting about this shit for three years now.

http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=584676

*********************************************

Quote :
"
...the next thing I know, I'm in a white minivan and they drive me all the way Raleigh. Then after that they fly me all the way to the ACC and I stayed there for a month. They were calling me Jose Thomas. They were trying to say that's my real name. I told them my name is Mark Daniel Lyttle, I was born in North Carolina." Mark started speaking rapidly, saying a phrase that he repeated at several points, and I felt the urgency that, shockingly, was belittled and ignored in his encounters with the people sending him away, "My mother's Jeanne Lyttle, here's my social security number, my brother's in the army, please call someone!" He told this to several ICE agents. He told this to William Cassidy, the immigration judge who ordered him removed on December 9, 2008. Mark told this to the U.S. border patrol in Texas after he was dumped in Mexico. "No one checked. No one believed me."

Mark was dropped off somewhere near the Texas border with between five to ten pesos, Jeanne said. The only piece of identification he had was a deportation order for Jose Thomas. Mark told them his full name, that his mother was Jeanne Lyttle, that he was born in North Carolina, and his brother was in the army. He asked them to call his mother, his brother, to check his social security number. The border patrol guard looked at his paper and said he "was illegal."

Mark, defeated, headed south and was wandering around Mexico until he found some missionaries who gave him shelter and fed him after he hadn't eaten for two weeks. At some point, two months after being kidnapped by ICE, tried in a fake court, rendered stateless and dropped off in foreign country where he did not know a single person and could not speak the language, Mark crossed paths with the Mexican police, who confiscated his deportation order for Jose Thomas and put him on a bus to Honduras.

When Mark couldn't produce a passport for the border guards in Honduras, they "drove me three hours to San Pedro and left me in a jail with robbers and killers." Jeanne added, "A woman jailer named Sonia would spit at him and stick her tongue out. She hit the doors while he was sleeping so he couldn't sleep, and told two inmates to take him out so they could shoot him. One of them was bilingual and told Mark what was happening and he wouldn't do it."

After a month and two days, the Honduran immigration officials wanted to ship him to Guatemala, but for some reason the van stopped in Nicaragua, and then Mark was dropped off in Guatemala. The Guatemalan police pointed him the direction of the U.S. embassy. Once they spoke with his brother and were convinced he was a U.S. citizen, the embassy staff bought him a hamburger at the McDonald's across the street."

More of her Facebook posts supposedly:

Her actual Facebook supposedly: http://www.facebook.com/tsolotoolonq

Her Twitter: http://twitter.com/ItsTikithia_Duh?

Her boyfriend, Alejandro: http://www.facebook.com/alejandroyoel

So...I read a commenter on one of the articles suggesting that she wasn't actually deported, and after reading her Twitter, I'm starting to think that's plausible. Maybe she found her own way down there, or she may have conned ICE into deporting her on purpose, which is still horrible on ICE's part. She also appears to be oddly mature in some ways and quite possibly full-on crazy.

Well, I'm tired and gotta go to bed. But I'm telling y'all this story is way more interesting!! It's almost like something terrible happened to her somewhere, and she just blocked it out and started a whole new life as a Colombian woman. Or like she developed schizophrenia or something.

i wonder why there is nothing in the story about her trying to make contact with home?

i mean with the internet & all it wouldn't be difficult. even just asking someone WITH the means to send an email for her.

i agree there are parts missing

i know that expecting someone to know a phone number these days is impossible but between facebook & people using their names as email addresses, surely she could have figured something out

maybe she didnt give a fuck

I am guessing she wasn't trying too hard to come home, sounds like she was still on the lamb. But they should have checked it out, but the way ICE is organized.... yeeeah right, that will never happen, their sole goal is to pack up as many people as possible asap and get the necessary paperwork to get them the fuck out.

^^ so... This girl now has dual citizenship (maybe, her Colombian citizenship might get revoke), spent a year in a foreign country as a teenager, has probably picked up a good bit of conversational Spanish (even if she already knew Spanish the year in Colombia will make her more proficient), and obviously knows how to keep her mouth shut in stressful situations.

Fuck it, the State Department NEEDS this girl.

I dunno, I doubt she's small enough to ride a baby sheep. Those things don't hold much weight. She'd probably have much better luck with a donkey or small horse even.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/06/us/texas-colombia-teen/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

Quote :
"(CNN) -- Jakadrien Turner has arrived back in Texas, eight months after she was mistakenly deported to Colombia, the pilot and a flight attendant on a Dallas-bound flight told CNN.

The 15-year-old girl was the last person off the plane Friday evening, according to CNN's Jason Morris, who was on the flight. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport police officers escorted her off the aircraft.

Turner wound up being deported to Bogota, Colombia, in May 2011 after U.S. authorities last year mistook the girl, an apparent teenage runaway who lacked identification, for a Colombian national.

The Colombian Institute for Family Welfare confirmed Thursday that Turner was then in its custody, is pregnant and entered the country as an adult. The institute said that Colombian authorities learned a month ago that this female may in fact be a 15-year-old American citizen, after which she was placed in a protection program there.

She left Colombia at 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to U.S. State Department spokesman William Ostick, who noted that the U.S. Embassy in Bogota worked closely with Colombian officials as well as authorities in Texas to bring Turner's case to a resolution.

"It's a giant step. I'm relieved, but I won't be completely relieved until I get her in my arms again," the girl's mother said. "A weight has definitely been lifted."

Johnisa Turner has not yet talked with her daughter, who ran away from home in the fall of 2010, but said she is relieved to know she is located. So, too, is the girl's grandmother Lorene Turner, who said U.S. Embassy officials called with the news that her granddaughter would be turned over to U.S. officials.

"When I heard those words, I didn't hear nothing else. I flipped out. I can't wait," she said.

After the girl went missing, the family tracked her to Houston, where she worked at a music club under a different name. They tried to get help from authorities there, to no avail.

They later learned she was in Colombia, partying and smoking marijuana, and a detective told them she was pregnant.

Jakadrien's family is still demanding to know why immigration authorities deported the teen -- a U.S. citizen with no knowledge of Spanish -- and why they simply took her at her word when she gave them a fake name.

The family's attorney, Ray Jackson, told CNN on Friday the family believes the girl's civil rights were violated when authorities allowed her to be deported. He said that lawsuits against the agencies who dealt with her case are in the works, he said.

"Somewhere the ball was dropped," Jackson said.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency maintains she was arrested in Houston for theft and told them she was an adult from Colombia.

The agency says authorities believed her story because she maintained her false identity throughout the process. They handed her over to an immigration judge, who ordered her removed from the country.

"At no time during these criminal proceedings was her identity determined to be false," the agency says.

It says criminal database searches and biometric verification revealed no information to invalidate her claims.

Jackson says it doesn't make sense, explaining that the immigration agency took her fingerprints but failed to match them to the name she gave.

The agency says it is taking the allegations very seriously and is "fully and immediately investigating the matter in order to expeditiously determine the facts of the case."

Pictures of the teen taken in Colombia showed her sitting on men's laps smoking marijuana, her grandmother said. But she appeared to be reaching out for help, she said, listing on Facebook the names of everyone at parties, perhaps so she could be traced.

Her family's lawyer says he doesn't believe that the girl was trying to fake her way out of the United States by adopting a false identity throughout the process.

"I don't buy that she had the wherewithal to be able to bamboozle the government," Jackson says. "You know, kids are scared when they get around authorities. ... To think that you could bamboozle them to create a new identity, it just doesn't make sense."

Colombia's foreign ministry said Thursday it was investigating what sort of verification its consulate in Texas requested before giving the girl an expedited provisional passport as part of deportation proceedings, as well as how she got work authorization for training at a call center as part of the government's "Welcome Home" program.

Attorneys with the program made a sworn declaration in front of a notary pointing to "inexact information" that allowed her to receive work papers, the foreign ministry said.

"Those lawyers are no longer providing services to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the statement said.
"

After reading that, I'm going to go ahead and say she was probably excited when she got deported. I don't think she was reaching out for help or even wanted to come back to America. She definitely didn't want to go back home. I know she's a minor and all, but I'm going to go ahead and discount the theory that she was scared and wanted to go home.

But still an epic screwup by ICE. If she wasn't a minor it wouldn't have been such a big deal but since she is...
