Actually there is no child pornography on the site, and several posters that haven't even posted actual child porn (scantily clad 13 year olds) are banned under the CP rule.

I can't believe how much of our freedoms on the internet have been taken from us under the guise of "protecting children"
Fuck the children. Save the adults. 1/22/2012 4:54:15 AM

Used in conjunction with put.io: https://put.io/ they can be much better. put.io has a Boxee app as well. You can setup RSS subscriptions for torrents in the web interface and watch it through Boxee with a remote. Little technical setup.
I bet if they get big enough they will go after them next. The domain is registered in Turkey. 1/22/2012 3:11:39 PM

That still only removes one of the many reasons that torrents suck.
As a technology, speaking from the average end users perspective and not as a "whole of the community" perspective, torrents do, and will always blow ass. Anything that, by nature, requires you to give back as much as you take is never going to be as good as something that just allows you to take what you want. Especially when it's still extremely common for "broadband" connections to have 384Kbps upload caps these days.
Actually, thinking about it more, I'm gonna change my scale. Newsgroups>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stupid sites like megaupload>torrents.] 1/22/2012 4:14:16 PM

IRC is still a little too "community based" for my preferences. Well, it was the last time I used it regularly, which was over 10 years ago. It may have had several advancements in that time, I know newsgroups sure have. 1/22/2012 4:32:32 PM

Because the raw implementation sucks doesn't mean you can't easily imagine a system where they don't suck. Think of something that lets you browse a torrent search site in a cover flow type interface. When you pick one it spins up a virtualized server and starts the torrent allowing your local software to download it from the server. Put.io is fairly close to being able to do that and from the user perspective it's just pick the movie they want to watch locally. 1/22/2012 7:49:03 PM

Eh. They don't go into a lot of technical detail about what the service is on their website, but from what I gather it's just seems to be a service that downloads the torrents for you and then allows you to stream them to your computer using a format that is not torrent. You're just renting time/storage/bandwidth on a server somewhere that is acting as a proxy so you don't have to do the torrents yourself.
So in that aspect, yes, I like the fact that the end user has nothing to do with the actual torrenting. Sort of defeats the purpose of thinking of it as torrenting at that point however. 1/22/2012 8:26:50 PM
