You are right. 50% on Gott, 50% on Lowe. Your boy was the worst ACC coach ever.

dont hate on boozie for that statement. I was a proud member of the sidney lowe sunshine squad but it now goddamn incredibly apparent how that was just a terrible decision all around. We'll always love Sid, but damn, we are 7-3 right now and Sid only got to 6 wins twice.

It's a shame CJW didn't get more time in this system. Hopefully he'll continue his solid play, the team does well, and he makes an impression on some team willing to spend a 2nd on him.

I'm not hating on boozie b/c of his opinion that the sid lowe experient didn't work, i agree with him, i think most people do. i just find it funny that he takes every oppurtunity to shit all over a nc state legend in an appreciation thread for a current player. we get it man, you hate sid. it's also funny that boozie doesn't attribute any of cj's improvement to cj himself. it's ALL due to the coaches... like it's a video game, like his ft%, fg% and 3p% improved this season because the coach is releasing the x button at the peak of his shot. and he tries to use made-up stats to prove his point. i realize some of it's due to coaching, no doubt. but come on, some of it's due to cj. he's a human.

I've been fairly nice, but for five fucking years I told you guys Sidney Lowe wasn't the answer. I took a lot of heat, but I looked at him objectively as a coach and not a NCSU legend. It took forever for people like you and adder to realize the sad truth. Yes, he was an icon, and a great PG. That doesn't mean a thing as a coach. I blame Fowler more than I do Sid. He tried his best, but damn if it isn't obvious that he was in over his head. If we hadn't hired a former player, things would have probably went differently (Fired after the Hickson, Costner, McCauley disaster in year 2).

As for CJW, he has improved drastically, but so has Howell, CJL, and Brown. The majority of that is due to the coaching in place. They actually work now. All you have to do is read Howell's quotes about conditioning. Yes, they are improving, but it is because of the system in place.

while it's obvious that lowe wasn't effective as a head coach, one could argue that if we fired him sooner we would not have ended up with the coach we have today. perhaps we would have hired someone else that knew what they were doing and had us improving, but i'm really happy with gottfried and the direction our program is heading now.

also, on a more relevant note, cj williams has been awesome this year and has really been a key to our team's improvement. i'm glad he at least gets to have one year where improved coaching has helped him reach his full potential.

if you go back and read those arguments at the time, i don't think i ever tried to argue that sid was a great coach, or even a good coach. i was mostly arguing that you were being a jerk for constantly berating the coach that we currently had on the side-line, coaching our team. the guy who brought in cj leslie, brown, harrow, howell, wood. many times i would say "at least wait til the season is over before you shit all over him". it's funny that you think you were some sort of teacher, trying to prove to me that he wasn't a good coach. i told you many times, especially towards the end, "it's not that you're wrong boozie, it's just that you're an a-hole".

anyways, enough of that, it's over, and i think most of us our very happy with the coaching change, and can see that he's motivating these players much better than our previos coach.

let's focus on appreciating cj williams.

Senior night for CJ Williams.

Including even the exhibition games, CJ's dad has only missed two of his games as a Wolfpacker.

CJW is a great Wolfpack ambassador, super classy. Hopefully he'll have a long successful basketball career, representing NCSU. After seeing his poise on the court and listening to him talk about basketball, i could definitely see him being a coach after his playing days are over.

yeah CJW really made the difference for us this season. We weren't sure what we were going to get from him and he stepped up as a scorer. He's always been a good all-around defender, rebounder, etc. but the scoring was what was lacking.

He struggled the last few weeks but today he was huge for us in the first half when we got down big

I found it interesting that in a recent interview (can't remember if it was before the tournament or over the weekend) he referred to his "best friend, javi gonzalez". he also gave props to courntey fells and ben mccauley for helping him get to where he is now.

I thought i remember it being in an interview in a gym (maybe dail center). I thought he said to the crowd last night "yall know i've been here for 4 years, and it's been tough, but it was all worth it to feel like i do right now."

he didn't say it's been tough, he said he's been "going through the struggle" or something like that. not struggling, but the struggle.

^it was in the video of the team being greeted by the fans at the Dail Center after returning to Raleigh after the G'town game.

Somebody handed a bullhorn to Gottfried, he said some words, then Howell said, "Beard Gang," then Alex Johnson started a quick "WOLF!... PACK" chant, then CJ Williams said that "everybody knows i've been here for 4 years goin' through the struggles... but I've got to say... IT WAS ALL WORTH IT FOR THE FEELING I'VE GOT RIGHT NOW!!!!!" and the crowd went nuts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0jcU1B8-cE&feature=youtu.be&a

So happy for CJ.

I'm pretty sure the interview where he talks about javi, courtney, and ben was a wral video. i remember him sitting on a chair in a gym, the background is cream, and he's sitting slightly sideways with the right-side of his face facing the camera. iirc.

i've just got a pretty good memory when it comes to some things. i only mention those details because i just went back and looked for the vid, and found a few interviews, but from just looking at the thumbnails of the vid, i'm pretty sure they weren't the right ones, because they don't fit the description i just posted. then again, i could be wrong.

"C.J. had a chance to graduate early last spring, after NCSU hired a new coach, Mark Gottfried. The first time C.J. spoke to Gottfried, he told him he didn’t want to waste his last year of eligibility on a rebuilding project.

“I would have left and tried to go somewhere where we could win right away,” C.J. said. “But he told me, ‘I’m not coming to rebuild anything. I’m coming to improve.’ So I felt comfortable with him.”

And Gottfried felt comfortable with C.J., doubling his playing time from last season, from 17.6 minutes to 31.0. C.J. shot 52.9 percent from the field through the first 29 games of the season."

We need a big dog game from CJW tomorrow night. He can score on these guys.

Would like to see 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 6/10 FG, 2/4 3's tomorrow. He is definitely a key to the game, we need perimeter scoring to beat KU.
