FYI, in previous years they were glass, but the 2011 ones were plastic. Boo.

Pouring beer at the beer festival was so much more fun than actually attending! I was pouring Alagash white and Alagash Black, and the moved over to New Holland once Alagash ran out.

Everyone had fun tonight until they showed up at the Alagash vendor. Those people serving there were assholes.

Smath74 and I ran the Alagash tent for about 2 hours before we ran out of beer. The white went first, followed quickly by the black. After about an hour, there wasn't much of a line left in front of us, so if someone wanted to try some Alagash, the opportunity was certainly there.

We started with ~20 bottles of the Black and maybe ~60 bottles of the white. Each bottle of Alagash black is about $20 on the shelves, the white is about $5ea... so we had probably ~$700 of booze (retail). After we ran out of that, we went next door to New Holland to help the volunteers pour out there, New Holland never ran out of beer. All this on top of the live music, I'd say that everyone got their money's worth.

If you've thought about volunteering for the festival, I *highly* recommend it! I attended the afternoon session, drank 57 delicious 2oz samples of beer, went to El Rodeo with friends, sobered up a bit, came back for the evening session, poured and talked beer with hundreds of people. It was a fantastic day! Volunteers also get to go to a party later in the week where vendors have donated copious amounts of beer for us.

YEP!

I'd say maybe closer to 2 1/2 hours before the allagash ran out... it did go quickly though. it seemed like a very popular beer.

They were out of black first in the afternoon session. I was disappoint as I've had the white before (was one of my post pregnancy bucket list beers).

First time and we had a blast. Weather was perfect, and I tried a lot of tasty brews.

Perfect weather. Tried this one beer which came in three varieties, 3 7 9 which was quite good. Had friends in town from all over. Ran into so many people I knew. Ah Beerfest...

I was the pourer for Butternuts Beer & Ale brewery. Lots of good times and good people stopped by. The Heinnieweisse Weissebier Hefeweizen was the most popular. We ran out of that around 8:30. Then came the Snapperhead IPA, the Porkslap Pale Ale, and finally Moo Thunder Stout Milk.

so can you drink as a pourer? I definitely saw dudes pounding beer that were pouring (night session)

overall, it was pretty epic. had some friends from college come into town and also ran into my cousin who's an avid brewer. went to the Architect after. one friend threw up on herself in the cab and my cousin texted me the next day saying he passed out on the sidewalk for a minute? haha craziness.

not supposed to drink while pouring, but they give us about an hour to sample the beers around us beforehand so we can discuss the beer with patrons. (and you are definitely not supposed to "sample" enough to get drunk!)
