Glad you're okay. I've had a couple of similar experiences where I've thought if stuff that usually doesn't happen had happened my life would be way different. You leave work a few minutes late and come up on a wreck that you probably would have been involved in had you left ontime. Shit like that can really screw with your mind.

Things like this always make me think of that movie with Gwyneth Paltrow. Sliding Doors.

http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1557175833/

Basically the movie is two movies going on at once. One part is her life if she caught the train home from work, and the second is if she just missed it.

It really gets you thinking about how your life can be very different just based on a small thing that happens.

I'm sure this is happening in our lives all the time and we never know it.

There is no "if". This movie was about quantum physics.

Any time you drive there are dozens of things which, if you had done them slightly sooner or later, would have killed or seriously injured you. Try hitting the brakes five or ten seconds later than usual next time you're on the interstate.

Glad you took a lesson from all of this (lay off the fucking phone), but the series of events leading to your avoiding this collision are not more remarkable than a thousand others that keep you alive each day, the vast majority of which you had control over.

In a sense, humans are the control feedback for the Earth.

But that's dumb to say because the Earth isn't a controlled system. You know... because we have Republicans. They believe in stability of systems without a control.
