hardees seems to hire an inordinate number of mentally handicapped folks.

now im not saying this in a way that means "the employees at hardees are terrible at their jobs therefore im calling them retarded."

no i mean folks with down syndrome and a variety of other issues that are quite obvious. what strikes me is these people have problems that are profound enough that a "normal" employee is always within arms length of them.

now im not a heartless bastard; part of me is happy that these folks have jobs. another part of me almost jumps out of my skin when one of these folks screams at the top of their lungs doing something trivial like folding up the wet floor sign or returning the trays to the kitchen.

the best part of this (well not really) is when something like this happens and there are old people in there (which is always). old people really dont tolerate the disabled and just shoot them this glare like they want to perform an exorcism right then and there. i just think its ironic considering they will nearly cause a dozen traffic accidents between hardees and their home upon leaving.

really what i suppose im getting at is hardees just tends to be an uncomfortable dining experience, but its the only way i can get a frisco thickburger. you cant avoid the handicapped by going through the drivethru either, although you might avoid the old and angry.

also worth noting is the hardees in mocksville nc has frozen mice fall out of the ice machine on a fairly regular basis (youve been warned).

BK is the most horribly managed chain of them all, locations regularly get C or worse sanitation grades, food quality is inconsistent and horrible, staff is sketchy, etc.

You can say what you want about MdDonalds but how often do you get cold food there?

I like fast food. I don't get all the hate - it is what it is, it's not supposed to be good for you, it's supposed to taste good, be cheap, and marketable to a lot of people.

with that being said I try to avoid:

Subway
Quizno's
Arby's
Jimmy John's (Jersey Mikes ftmfw)

I was so excited to go to long john silvers for the lobster bites and fish and chips but I was horribly disappointed. it tastes like they fry everything in the same oil (fries taste like fish). it was the nastiest, processed, greasy food every. seafood should not be abused like that. I grew up in Raleigh and spent weekends and summers in Calabash my whole life so I may be biased on my fried seafood.

Taco Bell is awesome - fuck the haters. yes, I know how it's made but I don't care.
BK and MCD's are both great as well. McDonald's is better though all around.
KFC is awesome and so is Church's.
Wendy's is good.

Bojangles is end all be all of fast food. fucking love that shit.

you basically endorsed the bottom of the barrel fast food chains and said you try to avoid the decent ones

no respectable person who is from the coast, or any person in general really, should ever step foot inside of a long john silvers. I wont even eat seafood in a nice, sit-down restaurant unless it is near the coast where the seafood is definitely gonna be fresh. How you could go into Long John Silvers and expect anything other than terrible, overfried, 3 month old frozen fish is beyond me.

This can be anything from "the chicken was ok" to "the toilets weren't covered with pee and the toilet paper hadn't been stuffed in the sink and the floor had less than an inch of water with the remains of cigarette butts in it."

The Circus Burger on Blount (or Atlantic, or Wake Forest, I'm not sure what it's called there) is pretty ghetto, but the two times I've eaten there, it was actually pretty good.

I lived in China for a summer in 2008 and ate white rice, eggplant, and mystery meats daily during that time. When I visited Shanghai I ate some KFC and was in Heaven. greasy. American. Heaven.

There's a regional chain featuring similar menu items that's better in every way.

Except the mashed potatoes and gravy. KFCs mashed potatoes and gravy are better than Bojangles.

I love Jimmy John's but I get the same thing every time I eat there--Italian Night Club with hot peppers. That is the opposite of bland. And I actually like their bread. The rest of their stuff is a little boring though.

Worst fast food chain for me is probably KFC, and that's really only because everything they do is done better by Bojangles. (With the small exception that I do prefer brown gravy on potatoes.) I can find something I like at most places. Burger King does disappoint me just about every time I go there, probably because I automatically compare their burgers to Char-Grill and find them lacking. But I can't knock them down to the bottom because I like the fact that they serve onion rings with tasty sauce.

I've never seen as many flies in a fast food restaurant as Subway. I'm tired of watching employees ignore the flies landing on my sandwich as they are working on finishing one for the person in front of me.

But overall, I've gotta give my main vote to the Taco Bell/KFC combo places.

And yea, Jimmy Johns is an unjustly glorified Subway. Ate there once with the expectation it was going to compete with Jersey Mike's. Anyone who argued JM<JJ is fucking retarded. And fuck Jimmy John's for taking sprouts off their turkey. Shame on them.

i don't like cold sandwiches from restaurants bc i don't like most of the toppings that make them good to other people, so paying $5+ for a turkey, cheese, & tomato sandwich just isn't worth it to me. i eat lunch at home most days.

kfc is shit though. i do kinda like their biscuits bc they're not quite as greasy as some other places, but i would never go there just for a biscuit.
