Dhani Jones can probably also pull off a bright turquoise 3-piece suit, doesn't mean you should try

Ftr, dhani is a buddy of mine. Unrelated, I was googling "Cincinnati Bowtie" for a friend of mind who didn't know what one was, and unfortunately dhani's "Bowtie Cafe" (his place here in cincy) was like 10 results after all the dirty ones

^ What he said. There are a variety of style choices for a reason. A man should express himself through his fashion, and preferences. I very rarely wear a button down collar, but it's a personal choice. I find that it works much better when the shirt is very high quality and tailored or fitted, especially one with a nice pattern or twill knit.

This. A nice shirt is a nice shirt, regardless of whether or not it has a button down collar.

And nothing wrong with bowties either. Some people can pull it off, some people can't (TT being one of those).
