Why didn't any of the "friends" he was rounded up with look for him or wonder where he was for five days?

FWIW I'm not defending the DEA. I just find it very difficult to have sympathy for someone going to fuck themselves up on drugs. This dude's reward was not getting charged with anything.

I think anyone that smokes weed should be left in a cell, handcuffed, for 5 days without food, water, and a restroom to show them how dangerous drugs can be. That right there is a life lesson.

Drugs are bad; this story proves how dangerous drugs can be!

as the story reads they told him he wouldn't be charged as they put him in the cell.

You can't actually believe this, right? The dude wasn't going to be charged anyways. The arrest is separate and apart from his detainment. EVEN if he were charged and convicted, you do realize this goes beyond detention, and when you cross that line into cruel and unusual, there's a lawsuit waiting on the other side regardless of your conviction.

^it's apparently ok to break the law in some peoples eyes as long as the entity doing it is one of our government overlords

Is it really that hard to believe that somebody just fucked up really badly? I mean, this isn't a hard story to believe. He was forgotten. Why do people just have to assume it was malicious and he was left in a cell with no food or water for 5 days because he "mouthed off". I hope he gets a real nice settlement out of this and whoever fucked up gets canned.

If he didn't want to die a slow painful death he shouldn't have gotten involved with drugs. I don't see what the problem is.

It actually is LEGAL now in certain circumstances. Very scary... be careful, Big Brother is watching!

Quote :
"The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act passed by the Senate earlier this week [...] includes a provision to give the president authority to detain American citizens indefinitely without charges or a trial, anywhere in the world, even on American soil"

from what i gathered from that law, its only legal if you're deemed an enemy combatant.

Still astonising, but i think this still goes down as an illegal detention.

Yeah, this is illegal detention... and it sounds like they weren't going to charge him when he was put in the cell, which is the bizarre part.

Yeah, I said certain circumstances... this wasn't one of them where the President authorizes it.

He smoked marijuana. You must not have sympathy for people that drink alcohol either.

Though, I must say, they raided a house and arrested 9 people. 18,000 ectasy pills for 9 people. Impressive.

^ He said he did not know about the other drugs. Which is very possible having known someone back in college that was friends with someone that was a drug dealer. He was completely oblivious to it too until other people exposed it to him. It is possible this Daniel Chong did know, but its also possible he really didn't.

I really don't care about the drugs, what he knew, or what he didn't know. It's all really irrelevant. I just thought it was impressive that they had that many pills on hand.

There have been some people that have survived 8-10 days without water, but if you go by the rule of 3s, 3 days without water.

Essentially by day 3, I'm sure his kidneys were seriously F'd up.

The issue is they left him handcuffed in a cell without food or water for 5 days. Now he wants 20 million as compensation. People are getting all mad because I don't really care. Dude went to get high on e and get 5 days in the hole instead.

"In moderate to severe dehydration, there may be no urine output at all. Other symptoms in these states include lethargy or extreme sleepiness, seizures, sunken fontanel (soft spot) in infants, fainting, and sunken eyes.
The symptoms become increasingly severe with greater water loss. One's heart and respiration rates begin to increase to compensate for decreased plasma volume and blood pressure, while body temperature may rise because of decreased sweating. At around 5% to 6% water loss, one may become groggy or sleepy, experience headaches or nausea, and may feel tingling in one's limbs (paresthesia). With 10% to 15% fluid loss, muscles may become spastic, skin may shrivel and wrinkle (decreased skin turgor), vision may dim, urination will be greatly reduced and may become painful, and delirium may begin. Losses greater than 15% are usually fatal."

The victim was hours away from death when somebody finally answered his cries for help. He's likely to go crazy after that shit and be unable to work even if his kidneys aren't seriously damaged.

hours away from death thats such crap

you are taking a symptom of severe dehydration and just arbitrarily affixing it to this guy who said he had no water for 5 whoooooooole days, and then saying that he was about to die because some kook doctor diagnosed him as dehydrated because he peed yellow and he gets to put his name on a big case.
