wait what ? i don't see i think they're like opposite cars lol i'd own both then you have a snarly cushy street car.. and a snarly cheap track car with epic grip and oodles of pwr.

Right, but why would you get one when the other is clearly better at what those cars are built to do.You know I'm starting to really see Ahmet thoughts on the e46 vs the 911. Why? What's the point...The only thing that the c63 has over a m3 is power, oh and deeper/louder exhaust. So why not just get a Z06 if those are the things that make you want a car vs another. Oh and the Z06 prob gets better mileage than either of the other two.[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 1:44 PM. Reason : ]

got ya... Yeah i could see that... and chevy does to a good job of giving you the most boring high gear ever. Hi... yes... i have a 7 liter v8 in a 3000lb car and accelerate slower in top gear then most camrys.[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 1:50 PM. So from most car comparisons between the M3 and C63 they say the M3 is the better track vehicle and the C63 is more fun to drive on the street and faster in a straight line. Most people spend 95% (if not more) on the street. So...there's your reason right there.Don't get me wrong I love them both. I've also never driven them. If I was in the position to buy that type of vehicle I would surely drive both before making a decision.

Who wants to go fast in a straight line on a highway and get gunned(radar) down by a state trooper when you can go fast around turns through the city and neighborhoods and accidentally hit an 8 year old running into the street?
5/24/2012 2:21:41 PM
what the heck kind of argument are you trying to make? that nobody should do spirited driving on public roads? should we all go get Camrys?
5/24/2012 2:43:26 PM
i dunno, imho most fun on the street, for me is had doing the 0-75 run down the entrance ramps to the interstate but the the 270 ramps are fun too. but back to the fact i like to be engaged in the driving experience with a real manual transmission so that really kicks out the c63. But then again we all know a good dsg (which is not what the c63 has unless you get the black edition iirc) is worth some time on a track day. It's personal preference. I like a fun car for the street but when i get the next car the 'roo will get caged and track prepped.

^I believe the 2010 and newer models utilize the 7 speed MCT transmission, earlier models 5 speed with torque converter.

Test drove one today. Awesome little car.

^^^^^ False dilemma. Who said anything about raging through neighborhoods and tight city streets?

that thing sounds awful - who would want all that noise from a grocery getter?i've never heard an auto blip on downshifts though, that's pretty cool

Sounds awful? I guess the supermodel with pointy knees looks awful, too. Perhaps it is the video, but I can tell you, that car sounds fantastic. This guy's last car was a 535i putting down somewhere around 450 to the wheels. He's in grad school, so no worries about getting too many groceries right now, not that I would mind a sound like that from my grocery-getter . It's actually really quiet inside, and of course it's louder at WOT.[Edited on July 14, 2012 at 11:56 AM. Reason : .]

Anyone who thinks the M156 V8 sounds bad is not to be trusted. That's one of the best sounding engines on the road today.

sounds.like.garbage.

Wow, this car is totally badass... A bit overboard with the black, but looks great, and drives and sounds even greater. Owner is a true enthusiast too, and the knows the value and quality of old MBs.http://www.autoblog.com/2013/08/26/1988-mercedes-benz-560-sec-amg-video/Video worth a watch, especially for MB lovers.I grew up with that generation of MBs, and seeing an SEC when out with family was always a special treat and got me excited. I even remember some 560 SEC AMGs and remember the exact location (parking lot of a shopping center) where I saw one when I was around 10.[Edited on November 4, 2013 at 7:26 AM. Reason : ]

^Those were always favorites of mine as well. I'll still stop and try to get a photo if I can when I see a W126 SEC...fantastic cars and they've aged quite well.

^^^obviously it has a lot to do with personal preference, but in this case you're in the minority. Quick google searches back me up Like this one:

^im probly biased because of motorcycles but I generally like the sound of high revving engines. the exhaust note on that merc just sounds so sloppy, like a dodge truck with flowmasters.
11/4/2013 1:27:44 PM
how high revving? If you're talking 10k plus then you won't really be happy with any car exhaust notes
