i realize you might be trying to stand out for a promotion, but burn-out is a real thing so be careful.

You're saying working more than 20 hours a week is "burn out"? All I'm saying is i work 40-50 hour weeks which is pretty average. If I happen to finish a current project by noon I'll start working on something else.

Burn out would be working 60+ hours. I don't do that.

I think the mendoza line between time worked and productivity differs greatly depending on the nature of the work.

Been doing it for the past 9 months or so. About to get back on the road again. While working from home is nice I am pretty excited to get on a client project that isn't all remote. Nice to eat for free and get airline miles/hotel points for free.

I work from home every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. It is the best part of my job, but there are downsides like everything else. Mainly, I feel like I never leave the office. My work machine is here, so I can always do more.

It requires both discipline to keep busy when there are distractions at home, but also discipline to say just because I could be working ahead on some things on nights/weekends since my work is always here, I'm not going to.

I left my computer at the office last week when I went on vacation, so when I got home this weekend, it was impossible for me to work. It was very liberating.

[Edited on May 22, 2012 at 11:40 AM. Reason : also managing people from 70 miles away sucks sometimes]

Office today. Might WFH on Thursday though. Speed Street is in uptown Charlotte and those people scare me.

The one thing I hate about working from home is that there is never any time that I really have nothing to do.

I cant ever work in the yard or relax on the porch without thinking of something I need to go back to the computer to take care of.

Yeah I work longer when I work from home. I just keep working until evening plans or dinner. Whereas at work once 6 or so comes around I'm out.

I would agree and I wear a suit and tie at work. Plus my 2 mile commute to work takes almost 10 minutes and has 2 turns.

yeah, similarly my current commute is 3.9 miles and i wore shorts, flip flops, and a polo to work today.

when I begin WFH full time, I'll still have to drive every morning to drop the kid off at daycare, but just come back home to continue my day.

working from starbucks right now. meep.

work from home every morning I don't have a meeting. maybe 1 day every 2-3 weeks I'm not in at all. while I'm renovating my house, that number is much higher.

I generally work from home Mondays and Fridays, Tuesday-Thursday I spend about half the day at home and half of the day making calls. Depends on the week. Some days (like yesterday) i'll work 12-13 hours and Friday i'll be done by noon, so time worked definitely doesn't equal productivity for me.

I work from home everyday, and travel occasionally (NC area mostly). I have been for.. almost a year now.

I hate it. It's not all that it's cracked up to be. I miss interacting with work colleagues, and I hate sitting in front of the computer all day.

Yeah I couldn't do it all the time. I like 2 days at home and 3 days in office. Unfortunately I'd be sitting at a computer at home or in the office.

My last week of working from home for a while, going to be traveling the next few months and probably for a long time after that. Excited to finally get out of the house but I will definitely miss the convenience.

was working a university job half time at home, then picked up another half time internship at my first large corporation - very big culture difference. I'll be able to work from home full time soon enough, though.

Working from home will likely end around Aug/Sept when I transition into a new role. However I will be getting every other Friday off in the new role so I will welcome that

no new job yet so still working from home for the foreseeable future

worked from panera yesterday. went in around 1 to miss the lunch rush. didn't leave until 8... i only got up twice.. once to pee and another time to refill my coffee

i got a metric fuck ton of shit done because i was so intensely focused with zero interruptions for 7 hours straight. today im burnt out and watched the olympics in my bathrobe all day

but now i'm ahead or caught up on everything i have going on & even got some proposals into my boss early (i said i'd do it by mon or tues next week & sent it to him yesterday) so the fact that today is slow is no surprise to me

I got the go ahead week before last to work from home for the foreseeable future.

It looks like I'll come into the office for important meetings, or when our SVP comes to visit from corporate, but other than that I'm good to go for working from the house. Turns out I'm as productive, or frequently more productive, from the house than I am in the office.

This is going to save a ridiculous amount of time and money from my normal daily commute.

I am moving to another state and figured I'd ask on the off chance they let me keep working part time remotely. I was 90 percent sure they'd say no, but they said yes

^ Nice! Always good to ask if you're planning to move anyway.

I work from home 1 to 2 days per week. Nice to have face time and quiet time in a private home office.

I also love working from home on Mondays because after my first day in the office on Tuesday it's already Wednesday the next day. Seems like the beginning of my weeks are always shorter.
