I stayed at one and the drinks are ok like what you would get at most places the food is ok i guess most people would call it good but nothing is amazing. Thing is, nice stuff in these places like mexico is already cheap so you can get all you want for a decent price. All-inclusive resorts aren't cheap though.

Ever since I've done my trips a la carte and been able to stay at awesome hotels, drink all i want (paying each time) at the top notch hotel bars which blow the all-inclusive shit away. Taxi to great restaurants and still get out CHEAPER.

I will never stay at one of these ripoffs again. You are trapped in their. Trapped with their food, service and basically in a paradise prison.

If you do stay at an all-inclusive place and want to go out and get the very best drinks or the very best food then you are really just throwing away money.

the st. lucia sandals made all their rum drinks with local dark rum which i friggin loved.

the thing that did suck is we landed and then had like an hour drive along some shitty ass road we thought we were going to fall off a cliff on getting to the resort.

So going to a place with a dedicated airport may not be a bad idea.

but, we were also there and had a drink in hand (they gave us champaign at check in @ 3) from the bar by 4.

Well to be fair, in Jamaica I was glad I was in a Jurassic Park-like fenced area to feel safe. Like someone said before, Jamaica is a shit hole. I felt safe walking around in Cancun but I was not a fan of that area at all.

I did my all inclusive for $500 (3 nights including flight)

There were 3 of us in the room so that helped but overall, very economical vacation

Any issues or concerns with staying at a European based resort like Iberostar?

Are you going alone or with a lady friend? Sandals, and many other resorts are restricted to couples only. At one point, there was discussion on if they allow gay couples, and I honestly am not sure on if they do now or not (I would hope so).

I went to Sandals Ocho Rios, and had a good time. The food was decent. The person I went with failed to bring dress shoes, so we couldn't go to one of the restaurants (fancy dress only). But otherwise, the places we went were good. Never was hungry. They let you get as much food as you want. Also, they only have Red Stripe beer. But when you can have any drink for free, it really doesn't matter. I spent all week ordering nothing but wine, mudslides, and umbrella drinks.

We had a day of breakfast in bed as part of our stay. It came prompt, and was awesome.

I was only propositioned for drugs once in the whole stay. Mid-week a bartender asked me if I liked to party. I think that's what he was referring to. No open drug references were ever made.

Do be aware that people will try to take your money if you leave the resort. We went on a shopping trip organized by the resort. At one of the stops I bought a jewelry box and had to fight to get my $15 in change back! So it may be wise to bring smaller bills so the markets don't have to make change.

If I wanted to sit on my ass all week at a beach without a worry about food or drink, I would go there again for sure.

I didnt leave the resort, and I got so drunk the night before we left I threw up in the cancun airport (in a restroom) 10 mins before my flight back boarded

^^We are staying at the Valentin Maya, in Riviera Maya. this place is 21+, but not restricted to couples only. There are 4 single guys splitting two rooms. The rest of the group is married/girlfriends. But we're such a close group that it doesn't really matter.

sit on my ass, swim, and drink are the only things on my itinerary. I've been to Chichen Itza, have done the cave dives, etc etc. I'm leaving that to the Cancun rookies.

Gran Bahia Principe, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Went for a week.
Food sucks. You would expect seafoods/local cuisines but mostly American buffet type food.
Location. The resort resides in a secluded area away from the ghetto...so outside of the resort is pretty bad. We feel like the people are out for your money. 1lb lobster cost $27USD(W.t.f. ) a coconut cost $5.

over all bad experience for all inclusive. I gave it 2/5.
