Are you actually saying that if I am speeding, it is my fault that someone ran into me?

If you caused them to panic because you're hauling ass 20+ MPH faster than they are and they are obeying the law.

Say they're merging onto the highway, they check their mirrors, and at the last second you dart past just as they're beginning to change lanes. Would you like to explain how they're at fault because they didn't "instinctively" know to get out of your way?

^^ Why would they panic and turn into someone?
If they are merging, they would be coming into the slow lane. If I am speeding, I would be in the fast lane, or have moved over long before they needed to be merging.

You can't honestly be that dense. You are actually blaming some one else for a bad driver hitting someone, and not blaming the bad driver.

I would say nearly everyone who you are trying to argue with doesn't speed or drive aggressively through heavy traffic. We drive in excess of the speed limit when there is an open road. We are the morons who try and do 100 on a double lane road and cross the lines while going through turns.

And yes, I am a better driver than you.

In a perfect world, you would be right. But you know that is not always the case. I guess though you're missing the point. The high closing rate between you and the person in front of you can take a person by surprise.

If you're breaking the law, and by doing so causes someone to be caught off guard, you are the bad driver.

It's not just heavy traffic. It's in all situations. Speeding on public roads is dangerous.

Unless you can see miles a head of you, the road is never open. But a straight road is no challenge.

So when another moron whips around a corner coming at you, what do you think is going to happen...???? hmmmm...

Seriously, I do hope that was sarcasm.

That's not the topic of the discussion, and that point is moot if it were true. There is really no way to prove one way or the other who is better. You may indeed drive a better car than me, but that doesn't equate to a better driver.

In all honesty, when I feel the need to "race," I do so on my computer in rFactor, Nascar Racing 2003, now F1 2012 (which is a bit too "sim-ish" for me) with my Logitech Momo. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a wrecked car and a bit more healthier than a broken neck. Whether I'm better than you or not, I guess that's up to debate, but it's irrelevant nonetheless.

Yes, sarcasm... Or a typo, either way the point is the same.

I don't care if my car is better or worse, still a better driver.

The only point I got was that it's ok for you to speed because you somehow manage to do it in manner that doesn't endanger anyone because you deem yourself a skilled driver. I guess to people who try to justify their unlawful actions it makes perfect sense, as the problem is with the logic behind the law and not with your own logic, however illogical it may be.

I guess I must not be doing too bad as I've never gotten into an accident that was my fault (the one accident I have been in a person flat out ran a red light, hit me and then ricocheted into the car across from me).

I have never been in an accident that was my fault, and haven't been pulled over in over 12 years.
I drive between 5 and 20 over depending on conditions.

During multiple law suites that stemmed from speeding tickets, courts have ruled that some places keep the speed limit artificially low in order to generate revenue from speeding tickets. I know of two such cases in CA where they went back and raised the speed limits. If you want to do research on that, feel free to.
