The show was good, but as many people have already said, it was the other characters that made it funny. Gomer, Goober, Barney, Opie, Ernest T. Bass, and Floyd were all more funny than Andy.

i saw a really bad movie on HBO at like 3 am a few years back

Andy was an asshole psycho homicidal biker

and William Shatner was a depressed friend of his who had to kill him at the end

cant remember the name of it though

and both pages on IMDB are like a mile long, so fuck it

Growing up, we watched The Andy Griffith Show all the time. My dad is a huge Andy Griffith Show fan. He has a couple books about the show and a trivia board game.

I still like watching the show. I like Gomer Pyle & Barney. I loved when Gomer ran into the street yelling "CITIZEN'S ARREST! CITIZEN'S ARREST!" at Barney when he made an illegal u-turn.

Once again, B4C is unfamiliar with how something works. Andy was the straight man, and a tremendous one at that. If everyone else is getting laughs, that means your setups are dynamite.

I had a friend who came from this dude's hometown, and said that he was surly, unsociable and hardly ever seen to smile

I gathered that part of his surliness due to decades of people whistling "DO DO DA-DOOT-DOOT DOO DA DOOT-DOOT-DOOT-DOOT DO DAH DO" whenever they saw him

I learned to whistle the Andy Griffith theme song when I was a kid. I dont think I can do it anymore. But apparently yesterday parrots whistling the theme song on Youtube was a big hit
