when i worked at the rock quarry, driving a CAT 993E, i backed into a storage trailer and pretty much destroyed it, me and the guy directing me, went straight to the office, told the manager, filled out a report, and were told "why are you still standing here, go get back to work"
another employee backed up the same truck too close to a lightpole and broke the mirror, he lied about it and got fired
tell the truth, esp. when you fuck up
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when i worked for a trucking company part time in college, i would stay over and pull the next day's orders and have them right ready to go (giving myself some extra hours pretty much every day)
i would then come in early the next morning, clock in, then sleep a few hours, then take like 20 mins to load the trucks (giving myself all the time it would have taken to pull, sort, all the stuff I had actually done the night before), and would be clocked out and gone before the first driver showed up
as far as i know, no one ever noticed and/or cared, the drivers were just happy everything was ready when they got there, i did everything really fast, but had something to look busy all the time
i was asked to leave when i gave my 2 weeks notice when i got a "real" job after graduation
does that count as fired? 7/14/2012 12:12:09 AM

^No It's common (though not universal) practice to be asked to leave immediately when you give your two weeks' notice. You still gave your notice and hence were not fired. It's due to the departing employee being a)a security risk (i.e. taking company data or possessions with them, or screwing with/sabotaging things on the way out), b)already mentally checked out and therefore borderline useless, or c)other assorted legal reasons. 7/14/2012 12:21:33 AM

I dunno if this would count. We fired a guy for writing his own name on the bathroom wall. He had other problems, that was the straw that broke the proverbial back.
If it matters I was fired for skipping out on work to go to biker week at myrtle with a girl. It was just a part-time job I took waiting tables at a country club to earn extra money apart from my full time job. 7/18/2012 6:08:46 AM
