Well, I don't think most people go around worrying about being shot. I also don't think most people worry about a house fire every time they go to sleep, or getting in an accident every time they drive. But yet, we have tools to help combat each of these situations.

most drum magazines are poor quality (the good ones are too expensive for your average mall ninja).

on top of that many people load them incorrectly regardless, or wind it up too tight (or not tight enough).

No one is trivializing it. You asked how one doesn't constantly think about it. And the answer is you don't constantly think about everything you wear or do. You just do it. That doesn't mean you don't respect its power and capabilities. It's no different than many activities you do each day that could be dangerous. Fact #1 There are always going to people who will murder and commit crime for any reason (crazy or just a plain criminal).
Fact #2 Those people chose to aim and squeeze a trigger, thus ending a life.
Fact #3 If bad people cant get a gun, they cant shoot people.

Most people stop there, but I continue to ponder...

Bad people from above, who now dont have a gun, will improvise because they want to project their power for some sort of gain, or because they are mentally unstable.

They will get a gun illegally or create a device to project their power, like a bomb, a knife, a sword, brass knuckles, whatever...

The point is, bad people will do bad things, guns or no guns. By limiting guns, or taking them away will not remove the drive to cause bad people to bad things.

Do guns make it easier to kill, sure. But if someone is going to kill, they will do it anyways.

So here is what I wonder:
What if our culture was different about guns? What if seeing a gun in public wasn’t a big deal? Would criminals be weary of robbing you because most people would have a gun? Would criminals try to out gun the average guy? Would criminals behave more aggressively if guns were more common on the avaerage civilian?

In all those questions, i look back to fact #2, the decision to use a gun. There is the "gun control" problem. People dont care about life, that is the problem. Removing guns wont stop killing, giving everyone a gun wont stop killing. Honestly, its the people that are the problem. Quit glorifying crime. So many kids think its bad ass to be a gangster on the street or the most bad ass MW3 gun slinger. As a whole population, the decision to shoot someone is made for the pettiest reasons and there is your problem.
