If you want youtube to load the whole video, try installing Youtube Center and disabling Dash Playback.

I hate that they got rid of the button to hide the annotations or whatever they're called. Now you have to hover around, find the fucking X (sometimes it's not even there) and click it on each one.

I wonder if there's a Chrome extension to hide them...

they've just consolidated it all into one menu, if you click on the gear there will be an annotation toggle in the popup

YouTube has certainly grown worse from what it used to be. It has grown worse because of ads, and the fact that it is harder for people to find related videos than it used to be. Additionally whenever there is a major event or news story, you have to weed through hundreds of stolen copies of the same video (often in degraded quality compared to the original), or you come across a bunch of fakes. I also wish people would finally learn how to film with smartphones. Hold the damn thing horizontally and film in landscape, otherwise you just end up with that small vertical bar of footage that makes it look like you filmed through a keyhole.
