huh, the house i owned in NW raleigh had a walk score of 51. There is a bojangles and a bar within walking distance. That must count for a lot.

Despite that I actually feel pretty safe. Broad street's issues stay on Broad for the most part, and in the Fan, the closer you get to VCU's campus the more issues you have. Criminals look for the low-hanging fruit for the most part (i.e. unwary students out at 3 AM, like the ones in the article you posted). We're a couple of miles away from there on the other side of Boulevard (Museum District).

If I had a kid or was buying rather than renting, I might be in a different location. For now I really think I'm going to like it (once I actually find a job and move, that is).

95 in downtown Raleigh, but it should be lower. Taz's is legit for the occasional tp or laundry detergent run, but you can't live on hot fries and beef jerky. It also lists Dos Taquitos and Locopops under groceries.
