Both Governor Christie and Ann Romney unwittingly made Obama's point.

Christie:
Quote :
"Dad grew up in poverty. After returning from Army service, he worked at the Breyers Ice Cream plant in the 1950s. With that job and the G.I. bill he put himself through Rutgers University at night to become the first in his family to earn a college degree."

We'll never know if his Dad could have done it with out the federally funded G.I. Bill program. Christie's Life might have been different.

Ms. Romney:
Quote :
" He started the John and Abigail Adams scholarships, which give the top 25% of high school graduates a four-year tuition-free scholarship."

I'm all for merit based state funded scholarship programs, but I also know that statistically the to 25% of the class will come from the top 25% of wage earners. Of course they will say they earned it (and they did), but will they also think of the advantages they got even before they did anything?

But, that is how some Republican's think. Even when they get help, they think they did it all.

I mean, it wouldn't be the first time people in the US have done it. It wouldn't surprise me to find a hanging effigy amongst the protesters at the DNC next week.

"Notorious Silicon Valley Fraud Shirley Hornstein Is Making Friends At GOP Convention
Adrian Chen
Yesterday, TechCrunch exposed a young woman named Shirley Hornstein for using photoshopped pictures with celebrities and made-up job titles to ingratiate herself with the Silicon Valley tech elite. Now, the newly notorious Silicon Valley fake has taken her act to the GOP convention. She's fitting right in, believe it or not.

Shirley Hornstein's story is a timeless classic of bullshit artistry. But it's also emblematic of the tech bubble hysteria frothing up in Silicon Valley, powered as much by boozy parties and celebrity worship as world-changing ideas. Hornstein, who describes herself as an "Angel Investor and (dare I say) Entrepreneur," embellished her bonafides to get herself invited to swanky tech parties and connections to investors, according to TechCrunch. Hornstein went so far as to photoshop herself into photos with geek celebrity crushes like Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg. (The photoshopped picture with Samberg above was posted to her Facebook profile with the caption "one of my favs people ever".) She'd name drop her false connections constantly, broadcasting her connection on Twitter and eventually landed on a list of influential women in tech investing in Silicon Valley."

because photoshopping yourself with Andy Samberg = a list

Around the 12:40 mark of the first clip:

Quote :
"[The Democrats] prey on [seniors'] vulnerability and scare them with misinformation... Here's their plan: whistle a happy tune while driving us off the fiscal cliff..."

Happy tunes are the scariest of tunes.

Wolf Blitzer thought Paul Ryan had a great speech despite telling 7 or 8 lies.

Paul ryan has zero credibility for reforming medicare considering he voted to make the problem way worse in 2003

Worse how?

As for the lies comment earlier. I can think of one part of his speech that was not factually correct but the scenario has happened many times.

Ask Wolf. He's the one who said it. Its just amazing to me how someone can conclude a speech was great after that same person also finds 7-8 incorrect statements. Just another example of how the punditry on cable news is worthless.

Yup, cut taxes and expand medicare. They'll be dead before the bill comes.

(My favorite part is how older folks complain that kids today are greedy and don't understand the value of a dollar. LOL)

Everybody says it now. The opposition coined the term to insult the bill, and the supporters adopted the term to own the bill.

It also annoys me like crazy.

It seems Tuesday was the day to haul out the big ideas, and Wednesday was the day to haul out the big lies:

for one, i think he repeated the story about a plant closing in wisconsin after obama took office. but after the first time he recited this story, it was researched and it actually closed during bush's last year in office. yet he used the campy home-town story again as a dig on obama.

on another note, what kind of weirdos actually go to these conventions, or watch them on tv and take them seriously? democrat or republican, these people have to knw that every speaker is so full of shit it's laughable.
