What damn good day of golf.

This was my favorite moment:

I know it's a shitty gif, but this is Tiger saying "Fuck yeah!" after his perfect tee shot on the 18th and Sergio's collapse, knowing he had the tournament in the bag.

i got through 25 seconds of that and turned it off....Tiger said it was a massive hook, so it crossed coming from the right

That dude is huge cum guzzler, but I can see his argument based on the video and the announcers. In Tiger's defense, he did was he was supposed to do and verified with his playing partner before taking the drop. Also the video they showed does not conclusively prove that his ball did not hook.

Nice weekend for Tiger, but I was hoping Maggert would pull it out.

Wow after watching that I want to see more video and angles. That video makes me think it never crossed land after hearing what Mark Rolfing says. From that video it appears Tiger really should have hit his third from the tee.

in any event who gives a flying piss ?

the marshal and his playing partner agreed where it crossed. wtf more do you want him to do ? call norad and get some nav/sat images ?? he said "hey guys does this look like where the ball crossed?" they said "yep"

my fucking god these armchair quarterbacks need to calm the fuck down. he doubles that hole regardless after putting it in the drink off the tee. Pick your fucking battles

The above angle is not directly above which makes it look like it doesn't cross land. However it is pointless. It is a judgement call based on the other player and caddy. Their job is to protect the field and make an honest assessment. Also the on course reporter agreed with the drop. He didn't break any rules. And be would have still most likely make double.

^^It started left and stayed there, it did not "hook" there. Blatant rule breaking if so. It is a big deal.

I am curious to see more video.

They have laser technology and can trace any shot these guys hit. Not really that tough to look it over.

if it was a big deal the PGA Tour would use instant replay...Tiger and his playing partner did what the rules say...the group as a whole is to determine where to drop. It's not like his playing partner and caddy were up in the blimp watching the ball.

^hell no he has no proof. There are no cameras that show good angles of where the ball crossed.

Its not "blatant rule breaking" and its not 100% ok just because he and his partner decided that is where it crossed. Its a judgement call, and his partner could have been bent over, wailing on a banana and staring at the 17 yr. old girl with a giant rack in the gallery during tiger's shot. Casey Wittenberg is a good player, with a solid amateur career but he was on the Web.com tour last year. Its not as if he is going to stand up and say "fuck you tiger, take your ass back and drop by the tee". So all the people using his advice as bullet proof are grasping at straws as well.

The drop was fine, and it is correct that there is no definitive proof, but that ball started way over the water from the overhead view and kept hooking. Its not something that should be addressed for or by the Players officials, but its another moment where tiger took the best possible drop under the most advantageous assumption about the ball flight that could have been made. He has done this before in the past before the Masters and will likely continue to do so and it will eventually catch up with him. Golf, and more specifically golf historians value ethics/honor far more than any other sports. How many times have you heard stories on golf broadcasts lauding someone who called a penalty on his/herself, took a conservative drop, DQ'd themselves for a mistake, etc.

^This pretty much. The marshalls have already came out and said they never told Tiger that Sergio had already hit. TW will lie in a NY minute.

Me? No, neither does the guy on YouTube. You can watch the videos and it appears that the ball never crosses land. That's why I said if so.

They have "pro tracer" and not to be a conspiracy theorist, but if it showed that TW's ball crossed right about where he dropped there would be a story on pgatour.com right now with a diagram (a la Bubba Watson's masters shot diagram) and the tour would be cock garbling all over tiger's nuts. There is not any evidence posted by the powers that be, so my assumption is that the real evidence would show he took a bit better of a drop than he should have. Again, its a judgement call, so it will die there, but in the aggregate this will catch up with him if he continues his "win at all costs"/i would never call the network if an NBA ref made a mistake type of attitude.
