^it's a hold over from jim crow as it allowed sheriffs to deny gun permits to blacks. so now it's just administrative.

I thought the ATF controlled out of state handgun purchases, not state law (e.g. must transfer to FFL in your home state for handgun purchases)?

You can buy long guns while out of state, but pistols MUST go through in-state FFL.

I bought my pistol from a dude in south st. For $200 and a bike. He didn't ask me for my permit so obviously one is not needed. GO AND TELL THAT

my bad. I misinterpreted the NRA-ILA website to mean "you can stroll into any FFL in the USA and buy a gun and they'll give it to you right then and there" (true for long guns, not handguns)

what I think they intended to convey was more along the lines of "you can pay for a handgun at any FFL in the USA [but then they have to ship it to an FFL in your state so you can do the 4473 and pick it up there]"

cmon son i'm not trying to make criminals out of anybody here

Your permit and the form sit in the dealer's files for however long they're required to keep them. That's all. Your information isn't put into any kind of database.

get a CCW...5 years of buying whatever you want without needing a new permit or require a nics check for long guns.

This should be a case study in unintended consequences. Gun-control nuts demand that we do something, gun sales and ownership spikes.

Nope. Heard the shot. Everyone ran. 10 minutes later they came out and said the show was shut down. Our friends inside said at that point they kicked everyone out. Hearsay says it was an accidental firing. Someone didn't realize they had a round chambered and it went off during check. 1 person was shot in the hand. The people we talked to said it was just a graze.

Sorry for the shit grammar I'm on my phone.

must have happened right as I left, I was there most of the am. Bought my ticket online beforehand so I didn't have to wait in the line. That line was crazy!!

All of the ARs were WAAAAY over priced. Found a good deal on a 30-06 though.

Might drop by there tomorrow afternoon and see if any of the dealers are willing to bring the prices down.

So apparently 2 people were shot. Man in the hand, grazed and a woman in the side. And a friend saw the woman and she was on the large side and difficult to miss.

If there were more guns in there, it would have prevented this from happening. I'm just surprised that the gun nuts didn't hear the gun go off, take their guns out and start shooting in the direction of the gun shot, especially about all the talk about how guns allow you to protect yourself. I mean hell, all those pussies ran away.

A cop pulled a shotgun out of a case....with his finger on the trigger. Moron shot the lady who was checking the guns. Show may be done for the weekend. They will announce at 3:30 if they will open tomorrow.

I got there at 6 am. Waited in line. Found a decent deal on 2k rounds of .223 and 1k of 5.7x28.

Well worth the wait.

Gun prices were all over the place. AKs for $700-1300. ARs $1200-4000

of course RPD will deny liability to the media. The facts will come up during the civil suits. The fact that they haven't arrested the gun owner yet says a lot.

Everyone I talked to that was near the door said it was the owner who discharged the weapon.

So far the only evidence that an RPD officer was involved is a bunch of commenters on news articles

RALEIGH -- Three people were wounded in an accidental shooting Saturday at a gun show at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.

A 12-gauge shotgun discharged while its owner unzipped its case for a security officer to check it at a security entrance at the Dixie Gun & Knife Show in the Jim Graham Building, according to State Fairgrounds Police Chief Joel Keith.

Keith said birdshot pellets hit Janet Hoover, 54, of Benson, in the right torso; Linwood Hester, 50, of Durham, in the left hand; and Jake Alderman, a retired Wake County sheriff’s deputy from Wake Forest, in the hand. Hoover and Hester were taken to WakeMed, but no information on their connection was immediately available.

Gary Lynn Wilson, 36, of Wilmington, who brought the shotgun, is being questioned by the Wake Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation. Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the shooting was accidental and that it’s too soon to say whether criminal charges will be filed.

Keith said the shotgun’s owner brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer. The Dixie Gun & Knife Show, which closed early because of the shooting, will reopen Sunday, but Keith said that private gun sales will not be allowed.

Keith said only the vendors at the show, whose weapons are in the building, will be allowed to sell guns Sunday.

The Dixie Gun & Knife Show is a quarterly event that usually draws thousands of people to the fairgrounds in west Raleigh.

Those attending Saturday said the crowd was larger than normal amid fears that new gun control restrictions would be implemented following last month’s Connecticut school massacre in which a gunman killed 20 children and six school staff members. Many people had waited for an hour to get in Saturday.

“I didn’t even get in the door,” said Christopher Kent of Tarboro. “I have been looking forward to this for a while.”

The shooting took place the same day as gun-rights supporters held a Gun Appreciation Day event in downtown Raleigh.

A crowd, estimated by State Capitol Police at around 200 people, marched around the Legislative Building. Protesters held signs such as “The Reason We Have a Constitution Is To Protect Us from Presidents like Barack Obama” and “I (Heart) My AK-47.”

One sign had the words “Come and Take It!” over the image of an assault rifle equipped with a scope and bayonet.
