Tell me about it. The perfume from all of those ritzy, carpetbaggers leaving their gated communities in Biltmore Forest can really burn the eyes.

adding to topics. Heading there for our one-year anniversary in late October. First time being in Asheville as an adult. Want to check out some breweries, do a Biltmore tour, maybe an outdoor activity, hopefully a show at the Orange Peel, and some good eats.

This is making me want to go back to Asheville, it really is a cool city....

or Boone, I use to be up there every few weeks during college, hiking and camping and bouldering and snowboarding. I haven't been back since.

unc asheville did have quite a high percentage of dirty gross hippies, but that percentage was still only like 10.

I've always assumed it was a tourist trap...just like the Global Village or whatever next door.

A-ville sucks. Last time I was there the "locals" who were probably just transplants from somewhere else, were really rude. Jack of the wood was cool tho. Lots of tourist types, cops hated travelers. so me an the folks I'd hopped in with got harrassed . Yeah we were dirty, but I had money. Stayed down by the yard for a while an at sweet peas hostel in downtown one night for a shower. Some local said he was a navy deal tried to fight me over a girl I wasn't even into. Got to sneak into orange peel an saw imagine dragons which was only good cos of all the young girls there. Saw frank black play, that wasn't bad. Not going back anytime soon tho. Stayin in the woods away from people and cops.

I love Asheville. It's worth going to now for Wicked Weed alone. I must say I'm not sure how to dress when I go out there though. It's hard for a yuppie like me. I might have to dive in some dumpsters around here to prepare for my next trip.

I'm a computer programmer, I wear one everyday (videogame shirts even better). I'm just not comfortable wearing another person's clothes and thrifting it up. I have no experience there. That is all I'm saying.

No doubt you make some decent money, but that alone doesn't make you a yuppie.

The videogame t-shirts kinda rule you out too.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news here.

Headed there for a few days. Soso weather.

Best breweries to hit up? Any other must do ideas especially if bad weather?

We have purple bus tickets already.

I had a great time at a bar called "Wicked Weed" and then this other bar called "Green man"

I felt like a kid again. And there's this wall where you can write with chalk to finish the sentence "before I die I want to..." We had fun with that!

I usually hit up Barley's while I'm there. Great pizza and lots of games upstairs.

Thirsty Monk is a cool place too. Have a beer or two downstairs.

I did a brewery tour while I was there once...great way to see a bunch of places quickly

Make sure you do some walking around and take in the sights. Triple falls is pretty awesome...bring some trunks and go swimming in a smaller waterfall. Craggie gardens is a quick hike to some really nice views.

If you like pinball there's a place filled with them you can play.

Honestly, Asheville is not that great. I've been more than a few times, and it's nothing special. The better part of the area is hanging out in the woods, up on a mountain, away from all of the people.
