Damn, and I thought my countertops were not neutral enough. Got verde butterfly and love it.

I really really like it on its own merits. I don't think I like it for that kitchen. Not because of the red--which I think could work nicely with a mahogany or dark cherry stained cabinet--but because I don't think the gray goes with that cedar coloring at all. Plus the floor is a wild card, and if it retains a yellowish or honey color, it's all going to look weird. 1/29/2013 9:54:17 AM

ummm - it looks like the solar system or something. If you're into that sort of thing go for it. I however wouldn't buy a house with that shit in there without wanting to replace it.
Good Luck!

Thoughts?
Floors are going to be roughly this color:
The cabinets are white and the walls are a taupe Current kitchen before renovations:

I like things about all of those. The lighter stuff might be better for resale but I would be happy with of these. Thoughts?

all those are boring...but if you must, go with the lightest one (last one) 2/1/2013 12:52:33 PM

At first glance I like the last two options best.
Between those two I like the very last one the most I think. That one is pretty sweet. If the majority of the slab actually has that somewhat consistent but natural pattern it could make for some pretty cool counters. It's always hard to tell the scale of the pattern and the way it looks on a large slab from those sample images though :/

go for the last one if you want an open, warm, light, and airy kitchen that you'll maintain as such (not huge contrasts, etc.)
If you want to add a modern flare and contrasts, go with a much darker granite, but then also add some other contrasting, wow features. 2/1/2013 12:59:49 PM

These are pics of the almost whole slab so the patterns are pretty consistent...
I agree Diva, they are a bit boring for my tastes too but I'm trying to compromise on resale and my tastes. It's a difficult trying to stay within my budget.
I did see some darker granites that I liked and think the stark contrast would look great but my concern is making a 12 x 12 space seem smaller
I like the second one the best because its less boring and I think the grey section at the top would be a nice backsplash
I have a few others that I thought were ok I'll post them in a second

yep, that's what I was thinking. Seems like it would coordinate with the floor well and definitely tie in to the paint swatch you posted previously. It's not dark, but seems dark enough to get the contrast you are looking for as well. 2/1/2013 1:20:08 PM

The original one is great if you want your countertop to look like Jupiter. So maybe Neil DeGrasse Tyson might love it. 2/1/2013 1:30:50 PM
