If someone pays more than 30% they have to be filthy loaded, actually work for their money (vs investments), and be dumb.

Filed jointly with wife w/out deductions & exemptions we were at 21%

Even Romney only paid a 14.1% federal income tax rate on his millions.

I bet he amended his taxes after the election to account for the money he gave to the church. If he took the deductions he could've taken then he would be around 10%.

Last year effective was 5%, 28% bracket. Probably the same this year with similar loopholes and deductions.

For all who need the the simplified formula:

AGI / TTP = ETR

AGI = Adjusted Gross Income
TTP* = Total taxes paid/and Credits minus your refund OR in addition to what taxes you may owe
ETR = Effective tax Rate

* you have to do a few simple calculations to get this number
