One of the big problems with legal at state level illegal at the federal level:
http://www.salon.com/2014/01/08/absurd_on_every_single_level_how_the_feds_may_be_crippling_the_legal_pot_industry/
Everyone knew this was going to be an issue, yet there's no current solution. I really hope that the federal government can get its collective head out of its collective ass and pass an exemption for these businesses. 1/8/2014 2:54:31 PM |

Yeah the Feds are going to have to face the music very soon. Ballot measures are being voted on in Washington DC and California this year to legalize for recreational use. Other States are working on legalization for medical use. All of these dispensaries have to deal in cash.

a scientific issue politicized...
Congress has difficulties pushing any real progress forward... but because this will help secure their seat, Marijuana is at the forefront.
I say table this issue and get a move on for everything else because compared to everything else between the US and the world, this is an issue that can wait. 1/20/2014 3:13:36 PM |

I'm about to pass out but off of the top of my head I think 60-65% of marijuana-related arrests are against minorities while the usage rate is equal among races
could be off but I'm pretty sure that's the number 1/21/2014 12:04:16 AM |

But...
Does it show if those charges were tacked on for an arrest for another reason, or were they merely the result of a stop-and-frisk type program?
Looks like there can't possibly be confounding variables, but who knows... 1/21/2014 1:52:06 AM |

I think the only real danger with pot legalization is the massive growth of the edibles market. I really don't want people eating a pot filled Snickers while driving down the highway. That shit has to be regulated. The plant itself though? I think the science has proven that it's far less harmful to the public than any number of things that are perfectly legal. You want to go after a giant industry that's chemically destroying American lives? Start with sugar. 6/24/2014 4:06:57 PM |

Regulated, as in amount and strength of THC in the edible should be regulated and clearly posted on the wrapper, or something like that.

i do think that marijuana should be legalized, but i agree that things should be clearly labeled, like 190% alcohol and whatnot.
for instance, i have no experience with any sort of "edible" thc, and i wouldn't know not to eat an entire cookie or whatever. (I only learned about this from some news article of a guy killing himself after eating too much of it.)
