I just can't imagine having to charge a watch every night. The biggest negative I have with my Pebble is charging it once a week or so and forgetting to put in back on the next morning. If I had a watch that I had to charge every day I would probably never remember to wear it. Next month will be 2 years with my OG Pebble and the battery still lasts 8-10 days at a time. I won't be buying another watch until I can at least get in the same ballpark.

The Pebble Time is really, really not attractive in any sense. A color screen doesn't make up for looking like a generic iPod nano knockoff. The industrial design of this thing is awful

I really like how the Pebble Steel looks, I was hoping the vnext would be along those lines instead of yet another plastic gadget touchscreen.

It's consistently the best reviewed watch on Amazon and most other websites. Maybe all the other ones suck? I just thought the general opinion was it was the best or one of the best options out there.

Yeah from what I understand it came out in 2012 and had a lot of things to overcome but in the last year it's fixed most of those issues and is now the best selling smart watch with the overall best reviews. Maybe this thread has died down because all the issues have been fixed (for the most part). You guys like to complain on TWW when there's issues not always when a products great.

I mean just Google "best smartwatch of 2014". Most websites mention the Pebble as being hands down the best smart watch available.

Again I don't own it. The new one seems appealing. It still has a week long battery life and has a huge user community and app base now. It'd be great for running. I'm always having to take my phone out to change music or check RunKeeper for stats. For $200 having a water resistant smart watch with a 7 day battery life that can let me check notifications, change music, and check my run time it sounds like a good deal.

By far the most interesting smartwatch you can buy today is the Withings Activité. It's an analog watchface (no damn lcd screen) with all the sensors for tracking, it's 165ft waterproof and it has an 8 MONTH battery life.

It's also a beautiful watch. The pop (plastic/rubber) version is 150 bucks, the stainless and leather version is 450 bucks.

Wouldn't call that a smart watch. More of an activity tracker as you can't actually use the watch for anything by itself (other than telling the time). It doesn't even give you notifications like some other analog bluetooth watches (Citizen).

The whole point of getting a smart watch is so I can use it in place of my phone for things like music or running times.

I'd say it's the definition of a Smart watch. Most of the wearables today are horrible watches that try to do 1,000 other things. Most barely let you do anything without being tethered to a phone, which defeats the entire purpose. If I could *replace* my phone with a watch and still get more than 24 hours of battery life, then lets talk. But the only one that can do that to date (Galaxy Gear S, which I've used) still has a few years of iterations to go before it's even remotely worth the price.

Really the only reason I'd like a smart watch is for things my phone can't do. Tracking hiking, skiing, running, biking, temps, altitude, barometric pressure, etc. For those things I'd get a Suunto or Garmin. They handle those things far better than any smart watch currently on the market and you can get them shock and water proof with a Sapphire screen.

So I do agree with Noen that I really want a separate device that isn't reliant on my phone. If either the Suunto Ambit 3 or the Garmin Fenix 3 had a cellular option so I could listen to Pandora, etc then I'd get one right away.

I really could care less about getting emails and texts on my wrist. That would be a huge distraction. I already have to turn off notifications and sound on my phone while I'm at work so I can actually get work done. Then after work I really have no desire to be connected anymore. A smart watch would just ruin the peace and quiet I get after a day of meetings and shit.

Finally going to jump on the smartphone wagon but was curious about what everyone thinks about the future of Pebble/FitBit.

I don't really like the Apple Watch from what I've seen. I have an iPhone, and all I really care about are the fitness tracking and notification/texts without pulling out my phone. The Pebble 2 seems great for this, but with the merger it sounds like they Pebble services may be shutting down in the next year or so. Fitbit has announced they are going to make a new one including all of the technology they have bought.

Amazon has the Pebble time (no HRM) for about $70, and the P2 for $130.

I'm OK with basic fitness tracking, I'm not a marathon runner or anything. I think the Garmin watches may be overkill.

For those of you that have one, what do you use?
