I live within 30 min of the beach and can't stand it. I may have been in the ocean twice in the last ten years. I prefer the mountains and snowboarding. I like the woods and rivers out in the east though.

If by shitty you mean aesthetically pleasing, clean, and family friendly...

Then yes...we definitely have shitty beaches.

If there was one thing I could change about our beaches, it would be that women could sunbathe topless as they do in South Beach.

Hope you're not talking about doing that in NC. Pretty pathetic ski slopes in this state.

I was just talking about this with the GF last night. I am working in a neighborhood that has $500k+ homes on one end of the street, $150k-$200k homes in the middle, and trailers on the other end. The street is not even a mile long. Just very interesting.

But I like the weather, as do most yankees that move down here and never leave.

If I could change just one thing about this state it would be the weather. I hate this weather.

This is true. I'd still rather snowboard on the pathetic NC mountains than spend time on the beach, if I had the choice. When I do make my snowboard trips, I'm normally heading up to VA or WV (sorry, NC).

^^about 10-15 degrees colder across the board for every season.

^Amen to that. Quite overpriced and overcrowded. I'm headed to Snowshoe on Wednesday. Sadly no Rockies trip for me this year, but at least Snowshoe should be below freezing every day I'm there!

^^my entire degree is based almost entire on science...but sure.

^where do you live now? Embrace the snow, go out and play in it. You can't play in rain but you can play in snow.

I'd rather make a winter trip to go play in snow than have to deal with it for a few months every year. And I LOVE the mountains/snow/skiing.
