tldr:
- Girl was in abusive relationship, breaks up. - Girl uses poorly worded UNC-CH policy to get ex expelled for a semester (and gets heckled in the process) - Ex returns, files complaints against her using the same crap rules - School threatens girl, so she goes to media

Claim buy this guy ^

I see no clear evidence for this account of events, although the Fire post did imply it in a certain way. The WRAL account didn't mention anything of the sort.2/26/2013 5:45:07 PM |

From the N&O Article
Quote : | "Landen Gambill, a sophomore, was informed last week by the student-run judicial system that she was charged with an honor code violation for speaking out about her abuse by an ex-boyfriendy" |
The complaint was filed against her by her ex because he felt that her speaking publicly was harrasment. It also states in the original article:
Quote : | "Landen said that she attended a preliminary Honor Court meeting and asked whether she could have violated the Honor Code simply by saying she was raped; the answer was yes." |
She violated the honor code by talking publicly about the sexual assault. She didn't have to name her accuser for him to file the complaint, she also didn't have to contact him.
The issue is not whether this girl was crazy, or whether she was actually assaulted, but whether the university did it's job in carrying out a fair judicial process for sexual assault victims.2/26/2013 5:51:59 PM |

Well that's consistent with what I was saying. The tldr could use more details. I'm definitely missing what her actions were as her ex returned to campus, and a part of that was the filing of an official petition against UNC-CH with other rape survivors.
Of course, the bigger story some people think they see is that the university's action against her wasn't just because of her ex's complaint, but because she was making them look bad. That's perfectly plausible.

That makes sense. What I was missing was the guise under which the ex filed a complaint.

University looks out for #1.
There was some more information in this earlier UNC-CH campus paper article

It sounds like there was someone in the system who treated her well (who left), and another who was extremely vengeful and withheld information from her - a student who had power in these hearings.2/26/2013 6:05:08 PM |

I google imaged her name.
I'm not attracted enough to her to care about this story. Let's all just move on 2/27/2013 3:11:18 AM |
