His C5 would run 9s on spray...and was still awfully damned fast on motor.

He had a Waverunner that would run 80-something on GPS, too.

Dan I talked nick last night. I am flying back into Charlotte Monday at 4 but am looking to shorten my meetings Monday and fly right into Raleigh. Man this blows. This is the first friend from college to go and it seems very out of place. Good one gone for sure.

Wow. I've probably only met one of you in real life - Jeepman back in probably my Sophomore year at State in Salisbury on the way back to college. Either way, very sorry to hear about BBR. He and I had some good private exchanges back when stone had more roid rage back in the day than he does now.

Sorry to hear about BBR and I hope his family is ok.

not a garager nor did I know BBR, but I recently read his thread about the wreck and recovery. I was amazed at what he had to go through with little/no recourse for someone else's stupidity. I was glad to see that he seemed to be well on his way to recovery, even if it were several years later. So this news was shocking to me and a wake-up call - dude wrecks, what 5 years ago? and has to fight for his leg/health for years and ends up not making, I assume due to an infection or blood clot/complication during surgery years later.

RIP

Damn, my condolences to his family.
As others have said, he was a cool guy and had a lot of skills. First met him fall 1999? and remember the BBR tearing up Hillsborough st. with it's straight pipes.

RIP man

Before Ivan even met me let borrow is brand new trailer. Literally on the fact I was friends with Matt (Jeepman) When we finally met he treated me as a someone he'd been friends with for years. We've lost a great person a true gear head.

Ivan and I didn't see eye to eye on much of anything but I think if put together we would have had some fun times messing with some ragged stuff. It's terrible that family has to put to rest a son and my thoughts go out to him and his family.

Ivan did a plumbing job for me a couple of years back when I was installing a sink in my DIY bar. Great guy and very knowledgeable. I will drink one for him in his honor.

I went to high school with him... Whenever I interacted with him then or a handful of times on TWW, he was always top notch. I didn't know he passed until just now. I saw he had a bunch of activity on facebook the other day, and it makes me sad I didn't figure out what it was for

RIP man.

Reading this thread kinda makes me wish I knew him...

A few days ago, I read through the entire OFFICIAL: Big Blue Ram gimp joke thread.. As evidenced by his pics/posts/descriptions, I know there were lots of complications along the way, but that was years ago and it seemed like things had gotten better. Can I ask what happened that was just too much to handle so late in the recovery?

Bloot clot -> cardiac embolism -> cardiac arrest. Actually there is no way to ever know if the wreck and/or surgeries had anything to do with it at all.

So I'm lying here on the couch at my GF's house, waiting for her to fly in. Just over the hill rests Ivan, and I think about him briefly every time I turn the corner to come here. Which is often.

nIgor touched on the Excursion ridin' on 24's. I remember borrowing it numerous times to tow something, and once he and I swapped vehicles for almost 2 months. I remember almost getting a DUI in that truck, coming back from O'Malley's...I blew a .09. I thought he'd be pissed. He just laughed it right off and said you gotta be careful about such things.

Or the time when I rode with him down to Benson to hit the drag strip on test & tune night, and we had to leave the jump box and chairs in the parking lot. Obviously, this being out in the JoCo sticks, when we got back, the shit was gone. We went looking. I saw it in the back of a pickup, and pointed it out to Ivan. What stopped me from grabbing it was a group of about six rough looking fuckers standing in front of the truck. It didn't stop Ivan. He reached in the back, got his stuff...and held it up, yelling, "Hey y'all! Thanks for watching this for me." I thought we were dead. They gave us a dumbfounded look and didn't say or do a thing. I can't explain it...Ivan had a real feel for people and just how far they'd go.

I dunno why it's on my mind so much today. It's just that kind of day. I'm tired and kind of hung over. And it makes me think back to the days when we all hung out a lot...when the hangovers didn't hurt quite so bad...when we were all thought we were a lot more bulletproof.

Until we find out we're not.
