i assume that's sarcasm, but we really do need better control for stun guns. They are used too often as compliance devices, instead they should only be used as defensive weapons when more lethal weapons would otherwise be authorized.

Eh, if you're in a situation that calls for lethal force, then lethal force should be used. There are reasons why lethal force is authorized. I don't mind stun guns being used for "compliance" under certain situations when lethal force wouldn't be justified, but physical force may not be appropriate/effective. I'd like to know why adjustments to stun guns couldn't be made to lessen lethality. I'm not an electrical guy, but could the voltage (?), time, or something else be adjusted?

i said "would otherwise be"

in other words, situations where before stun guns existed cops had to use guns because they had no other option but may now choose to use a stun gun.

i'd leave that line to the discretion to police officers and professionals, but what is clear is that these stun guns can cause death and are being overused as compliance devices because they are considered non-lethal when they should be considered less-lethal.

Crazy guy walks into a government office armed with a hammer.

10 hurt, only 1 dead (the attacker).

Given this is Chit Chat, didn't the first Indiana Jones movie pretty much settle this question?

so, moron.. if you are confronted by a nut with a gun... what do you do ?

just "ohh well time to die" ?

it goes back to the adage of "if you make it a crime to own a gun... then only criminals will own guns...."

My opinion on this is that if guns are outlawed or severely restricted your "black market" street entrepreneurs are just going to start carrying new inventory.

Are any of TWW's social justice bleeding hearts actually advocating for guns to be illegal in America?

No. Some are arguing for SLIGHTLY stronger requirements but most are just acknowledging something is wrong.

How to fix it is a question with no likely solution. Culture and total abandonment of mental health services in the 80s are probably the biggest culprit and the ridiculous amount of guns in circulation exacerbate that. How does it change? Who knows.

No, but congrats for not turning that into yet another stupid strawman. I'll call that progress!

You should do whatever you can to not get shot, including disavowing your religion if that's what it takes.

That's a fine opinion, but literally not supported by any cases of countries where this has happened. Either way, no one's talking about banning all guns anyway. Not sure why this is what gun nuts hear when they hear "gun control".

My only take on guns is the fact people can own semi auto weapons and such. I get the use of handguns for protection and rifles and shotguns for hunting, but I cant think of any real good reason to own anything else. I agree though that taking guns away entirely isnt the solution either and the process to get a gun should probably be more strict.

thankfully "some folks don't see any good reason to own it" is not a reason to ban something in the US

So watchu saying is... ?

I'd like to know what you think this "other" is, as this is pretty much America now. The number/percentages of "other" firearms and "other" firearm owners is absurdly small. The number of crimes committed with "other" firearms is even smaller. You're going after a non-existent problem, relatively speaking. The issue is access to any firearm by those who should not have access; not what firearms you think constitute "other" and which people may legally own those "others".
