yes, but i failed to specify legally owned machine guns when i posed the question. receivedeath stated that "we don't need machine guns" and seemed to imply that we need some laws further restricting the ownership of machine guns. the point is, machine guns are difficult to acquire legally and extremely expensive. legal machine guns are nearly never used in crimes. even illegal machine guns and semi-autos that have been illegally converted are rarely used in crimes.

30 rounds in just under 3 seconds.. damn fast enough. 600 rounds/min if you say 3 seconds flat. M16 is ~900 rounds/min IIRC.

or perhaps by "we don't need" he was implying that the current restrictions are sufficient, and we don't need to loosen them. i think that's more likely, since for all intents and purposes we don't have them now, and his argument is we don't need them.
