come on now, the french dips weren't that bad. the chicken tenders were probably the best out of all the offerings. the spicy chicken sandwich was pretty good for what it was.

I remember around 2000ish they got new chairs with a wolf on them. Some of my suitemates liked them so they stole a few and hid them in their rooms. But then they never got them all off campus and got busted for stealing them.

And the chicken tender baskets were pretty good.

Most of the time I got the spicy chicken sandwich. Had it way to much and the thought of one doesn't sit well with me even now.

That place was a dump but I'm oddly nostalgic for it. A pack of fellow dorks from the honors program would go there pretty often freshman year. (Not that everyone in that dorm was a dork, just us).

And really, for all this talking about how shitty it was...for most of us, it was "free" food thanks to the meal plan. Here's the order of preference for college students:

Free pizza and cheese sticks > Good pizza and cheese sticks that cost money > bad pizza and cheese sticks that cost money

I have no regrets.

I normally went with the chicken tender basket but I would get the shrimp basket from time to time. I can't believe I trusted wolves den shrimp but they were pretty decent.

If you went to NC State daytime soccer camp during the summer in the 90s then you got to play games for an hour in there after lunch. That is where I was introduced to Street Fighter II The World Warrior, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, and Mortal Kombat.

I read these articles about schools like High Point where they go all out for student dining and I'm not jealous at all. First off, it's college, not a resort. If it was a resort, I'd never have gotten anything done.

Secondly, it creates entitlement. I mean, it made places like I <3 NY Pizza into special privileges only afforded for special occasions as a Freshman.

I will say, I was at a cookout once where a coworker of a friend said their son decided to choose a school because of there being a Taco Bell NEAR campus. So I got to make a pitch for NC State. That Taco Bell better still be on campus.

STONE WILLY traveled the world looking for pizza, right? Was it a chain?

Used to work there. Made some awesome pizzas and steak sammiches with au jus. Haha all the guys in the back that I worked with were former inmates from the state pen. Super nice guys.

I never at the wolves den. I lived 20 feet from clark dining hall. Pizza, grilled cheese and cheeseburgers for 2 meals a day. every day.

I remember playing Gotcha (basically Assassins) my freshman year and pulling a mob-style hit at the Wolves' Den. Two of the players had gone there for dinner with a few of their other friends, and I stayed carrying two concealed water pistols at all times, so I rolled up on their table.

"Hey, Frosh!" Then realization dawned as my hands reached for the tools, but that realization was too late. Two shots each to the chest.

"Enjoy your dinner."
