The husband was treated for wounds to both hands and arms. Those are typically defensive wounds. The wife probably escaped while the attention was on her husband. Who knows. It's just very sad and tragic. There's probably not at thing that they could have done to prevent it. No one expects their friend to turn on them like that.

I think that means that it wasn't a love triangle or anything like that. It could have had to do with work, some sort of financial dealings, or the guy had a psychological break. Who knows.
