Chili, slaw, and mustard on top is called Carolina style and I prefer it on my hotdogs over burgers. Regardless, it's good...
(I like it better with the cheap canned chili, but maybe I'm weird) 5/23/2013 3:06:53 PM

Mom's from Austin, Dad's from NJ We've been in NC for 23 years though.
When my brother went to college, he told people he was born in Wisconsin and nothing else (technically true, he lived in Wisconsin for about a year, then in Oklahoma for about two years, then lived in Raleigh for the next 15...), just because he wanted to deny being from the south

well, you must not have relatives that do this kind of weird shit. I think some of the things on this list are dying (thankfully). Every time my father is behind someone from Florida, he usually makes a comment on their driving. 5/23/2013 4:21:54 PM

I don't know, this list seemed pretty on key to me.
Florida drivers... I get it. On the coast we get so many tourists, and Florida license plates are both 1) identifiable and 2) in abundance, so I guess that's why. Slow drivers.
All you people that don't like the Carolina condiment trinity need Jesus. And some Duke's. 5/23/2013 4:30:30 PM

#2 only bothers me a little because I think that Sun Drop may have more lovin' that Cheerwine. But they are both southern classics.
I think a lot of this list is based on the western part of the state (or non-urban areas), too. 5/23/2013 4:49:27 PM

Being half from Ohio and half from NC I know that the first flight was in NC. The whole "Birthplace of Avaition" motto comes from Orville Wright, John Glenn, and Neil Armstrong being born in Ohio. Most people from Ohio do not know this because most people from Ohio are idiots. 5/23/2013 7:42:32 PM

joe_schmoe All American 18758 Posts user info edit post |
And you're an idiot because you somehow think Armstrong or Glenn have anything to do with the 'Birthpalace of Aviation". Must be your Ohio side coming out. 5/23/2013 8:01:16 PM

Jeepxj420 All American 6755 Posts user info edit post |
HAHAHA! Like I said people from Ohio are idiots. I know Orville was born in Ohio, but I wasn't sure about his brother so I researched and the site mentioned Armstrong and Glenn with the motto. I never thought that. I should of used quotations. Even though they did fly into space.

On the coast it's not Florida drivers that are the worst, it's Pennsylvanians. Anytime you see those blue & gold bars you know chances are you're behind a fucking moron who checked his/her brain at the bridge. There's even a bumper sticker for it. 5/25/2013 3:48:40 PM

This has to be the most annoying one. I'm from NC and I find this so hilarious.
1) It's a fluke 2) It's an online voting poll, upon which only Asheville shows up each year to vote for themselves (and this year Grand Rapids voted for themselves) 3) You can't self-proclaim yourself "Beer City", if you do, see (1) 4) The top 5 breweries in North Carolina.... ready for this??? aren't in Asheville. 5) New Belgium & Sierra Nevada are opening expansions there because it's a central point for east-coast distributing upon which there happens to be quite a few breweries there even if they aren't the best.
But hey, I'm hoping New Belgium & Sierra Nevada ramp up the scene to better beer for Asheville, they do have a good culture, but not the same as San Diego, Portland, Denver

Two on this list are off for me: 1). Florida drivers needs to be replaced by any northeast state, preferably New Jersey. 2). The Christmas tree place (which I've never heard of) should be replaced by a visit to Bills Hot Dogs in Washington. 5/25/2013 9:26:18 PM
