I missed Harris Teeter when I moved up here but then I found Wegman's and once they started selling alcohol I my life was then complete.

when is the last time you went in that Kroger on Six Forks?

it's a complete shithole now

the Cameron Village Teet, while pricey, is my favorite grocery store in the area

The Kroger in Richmond is probably the nicest regular grocery store I've ever been in.

While HT may be more expensive as a whole, they do run some really good VIC specials. Their meats are about the best you'll ever find in a chain grocery store, and the cougs and milfs keep me entertained.

I will miss all of this if they change things up.

Also, they hire a lot of older folks and everyone always seems friendly who works there.

Six Forks Kroger was great when it opened what, 15 years ago?

now it just looks like a jumbled mess

and the giant Glamor Shot of their new store manager at the entrance certainly doesn't do them any favors

i go there fairly regularly. serious question, why do you say it's a shithole? what's shitty about it? i really don't see a difference between it and the CV HT.

The Kroger on Creedmoor & Strickland is really nice. They just remodeled it last year.

Kroger stopped doubling coupons in May. Harris Teeter has the most amazing coupon policy. They offer double coupons everyday up to $.99 and every couple of weeks they either offer a week of triple coupons or a week of super double coupons.

Triple coupons: value of coupon tripled up to $.99. so a $.75 is worth $2.25
Super Double coupons: value of coupons doubled up to $2. So a $2 coupon will be worth $4

I really hope they keep the same coupon policies for Harris Teeter.

HT conceded low prices to other grocery stores and doubled down on service, its why they have been successful. They are not trying to offer the best prices, the are trying to offer good looking stores and plenty of helpful staff.

no, but I bet you want more than a single lane open to check out. Go to Food Lion and see how long it takes you to check out or get something from the deli then do the same at Harris Teeter.

Food Lion is the worst. Doesn't matter if its 11am or 5pm, only two lanes will be open.

I also don't have to wait behind people in Harris Teeter who split up their groceries and check out twice. Once for the doritos and milk with food stamps and the other for cigarettes and beer with a crisp $100 bill.

The HT on East needs to be 2-3 times as big as it is to support the number of people that go there now, and it's just going to get worse when the population of southend doubles at the end of the year. I doubt they'll face too much competition, just a missed oppurtunity to expand as big as the should have the first time.

Unless you were talking about the Ballantyne Publix, which I don't know anything about, everything outside of 485 could burn to the ground and I wouldn't care.

I realize I'm a little late to the party, but LOL WTF? No. The Kroger on Six Forks is comparable to the Food Lion on Lake Wheeler, in the quality of it's store and its patrons.

So Kroger is apparently some huge grocery chain, that apparently only exists in the southeast? B/c I've never seen them in the NE, the mid-west, the rockies, or the west coast.

Its actually the largest grocery chain in the states. Kroger owns a bunch of other chains such as Ralphs. I used to work there and its a pretty decent company for a shitty dead end job. It still has a union. I think its the only grocery store in the US with a union (which is a giant waste of time btw)

Man, come on, no it's not. I've only been to the Lake Wheeler Food Lion a few times, but it's obviously a typical Food Lion, and it has typical Food Lion patrons. The Kroger on Six Forks may be relatively old, but it's not comparable to your average Food Lion. Silly argument.

I love harris teeter, its expensive but the selection is great and there are always sales

Kroger is hit or miss, there are two near my house one at 54 and fayetteville and one on MLK the Kroger on MLK is freakin beautiful. Kroger on 54 and fayetteville is ghetto.

This is funny because within like 2 square miles of me there are two Krogers and two harris teeters. So my block is locked down for better or for worse.

Let's face it, it's not prices, service, aesthetics or location...

We go to "nicer" grocery stores to avoid trashy clientele and to have some selection of quality foods.
