I love CA. I particularly like Southern CA (San Diego, Carlsbad, La Jolla, Oceanside, etc). The Bay Area and Napa Valley region are cool, too, at least to visit.

The cost of living, car laws, and gun laws make it pretty unappealing to actually live there, though.

Research Triangle Park announced the first phase of its redevelopment — Park Center.
The research park has acquired nearly 100 acres near I-40 for $17M — enough space for potentially 100,000 new jobs, says Research Triangle Foundation CEO Bob Geolas. He says the mixed-use project requires $2 billion in private investments, and will include residential and retail development.
“Today, everything changes,” Geolas says.
The investment in the property has been made, and the next step is a site plan, he says. That starts in the next few weeks.
Geolas says initiating this ambitious plan from the Park Center site speeds up the process by a year, instead of the original redevelopment site off Cornwallis Road.
But the plan depends on the completion of a rail station, Geolas adds.
The Park Center project is bounded by I-40, Davis Drive, N.C. 54 and N.C. 147. The Governor’s Inn and more than a dozen outdated office buildings on the property, most of which have stood vacant for years, will be razed in the months ahead.
“We are not here today to announce what specifically will be going here,” he says. “That’s up to the public to decide.”
One of the buildings includes the two-year-old Research Triangle High School. RTP will work with them to identify a new location.
And he adds that the Centennial campus, or the massive Chatham Park development in Pittsboro, are not the competition.
“China is the competition,” he says.
