i dont often tip on carryout but if my bill is like $9.32 i might tip $0.68 just to be OCD about it

but at Outback they actually bring your food to your car! and sometimes when its raining! so i might toss them a couple bucks

^^ They take your food off the plate, box/bag/bowl/wrap it up, get the materials, and all the sides it comes with/you request, drinks, etc AND run it out to your car.

Definitely deserves a tip. I guess if you've never worked there, you wouldn't understand.

McDonald's people don't run food out to your car

Unless they're like "We're cooking some fresh fries, they'll be ready in about 3-4 minutes, could you pull up?"

why the hell would they plate a to-go order? that's very poor communication between the cooks and the expo

Place on plenty of paper towel and poke steam holes in carton

^^ Agreed! I always order extra crispy. They need to find a better solution.

V The container does have holes in it. They don't put it on paper towels though.

IDK, the way it's set up, it's just easier to grab a plate and sling it off the grill and slide it in the shelf thing. The To-Go servers have to come in and grab the plate(s) and get all the stuff to box it up. It's a lot of work really (not hard by any means) especially on weekends.

Of course that was 5 or so years ago for me.

All I know is that my very first Mother's Day, Outback To Go was pretty nice to my husband and helped him conspire to put a pair of diamond earrings in with the To Go boxes. I thought that my husband was just bringing dinner home, but opened one of the To Go boxes and found a box from Jared. It was pretty awesome and I'll always have a soft spot for Outback's To Go.

I tip on carryout and pizza delivery

Like was previously said in this thread (and the 100 other threads about tipping), if you've never worked in food service then you probably don't understand.

^^why in the flying fuck would you tip for CARRYOUT PIZZA??????
you are what's known as a "sucker" in the retail world. I bet at the grocery store you pay full price for things on MVP too just so "the grocery store gets what they deserve"

I mean carryout like Outback or Applebees

Should have clarified

And LOL no, I don't pay full price for anything in the grocery store. I get most of my groceries for free/cheap

Hey, I liked my mall jewelry and not having to cook dinner. Every woman needs a pair of diamond studs and it was a total surprise.

I'll usually tip a dollar or two / 10% at the local pizza joint because I have this weird notion that my number/name might have a notes field in their software. I'll usually tip 5-6 on delivery if it's the first time I've used them.

I scratch through or put the subtotal down at places like moe's or other glorified fast food service, but if I call in sushi or get something from ale house/cheddar's it's usually handed to the bartender who puts the order in to the kitchen and then gathers and checks it so I'll tip the standard amount. I'll usually end up with a beer at the bar anyway if I get there before the food's out.

I tip a buck or two on takeout. Often the hostess or bartender or whoever had to take your order and pack it up for you, maybe get you a water if you have to wait. That's worth a dollar or at least rounding up the change to the nearest dollar or something.
