that's usually a reason to be at a 12 year low.

change that to late 20's, and that's me and everyone in my office. on a touchscreen laptop its an incredible productivity tool, i even stopped using my fancy windows 8 touchpad thing and only use a regular mouse now.11/19/2013 12:27:44 PM |

That started happening almost 3 years ago. Ballmer saw the writing on the wall and started making massive changes, but (as he admitted in a recent interview) it was apparent that he was part of the problem preventing Microsoft from really completing the transformation needed.
Doing great is a relative term, but the company hasn't been doing badly in pure bottom line terms. Just no longer the growth monster that Wall Street demands. I think Microsoft is starting back on the growth track again.11/19/2013 3:58:33 PM |

getting rid of stack ranking was a good step, but until theres some serious backpeddling on metro for desktops/laptops I don't think anyones gonna take claims of getting back on track seriously. 11/19/2013 4:33:38 PM |

Google has taken a step back from the brink by starting to label it's search engine advertisements as such. Next step...google video ads playing automatically in search results. But at least they'll have nice little yellow "Ad" labels beside them.
Microsoft, meanwhile, is demonstrating it has no sense of shame by selling "Keep calm while we steal your data." coffee mugs. 11/21/2013 4:38:30 PM |
