It wasn't great at all. It was the worst in recent history. The conditions were too warm and fucked up the snow competitions because of inconsistency and poor snow quality. There was a ski competition where like 8 out of 10 crashed because the snow was shit. The press accommodations were laughable. The whole thing was orchestrated by Putin himself through his mafia network, including the location of the games. The only thing that didn't happen was a terrorist attack, but probably because the police beat and arrested anyone who got near the facilities without a press pass. Yeah it sure was great.

And I'm awfully curious to know how critical people would have been of past Games given the social media scrutiny they are now subject to. If you recall the weather conditions sucked at Vancouver in 2010 as well.

Vancouver sucked too. The Winter Games are usually mediocre and nobody watches them, compared with the Summer Games. SLC was slightly more interesting because it was in the US, but who the fuck remembers Nagano or Torino? Summer games are when the whole world is really watching and the last few (London, Beijing, and Sydney) were all fantastic. I purposely left Athens off the list, because it sucked compared to the other 3. Even still, way better than that shitshow that just happened in Sochi. In four years, nobody is going to care about the one in Korea either. Rio will be insanely more watchable.

^believe it or not, a lot of people prefer the Winter Games. I won't argue that the Summer Games are more popular, since most featured sports are considerably more accessible to the average person and in a way you could say that the Winter Games caters more to the wealthy. But I prefer the Winter Games; I find most of the events more interesting.

Just because you prefer summer events doesn't mean the winter games suck
