I really like the design of the '05.
The '14, I dunno wtf they were thinking. 1/7/2015 11:40:09 AM |

personally, I love the design changes in the mid-cycle update. I didn't like a lot about the '10-'13 5th gens at all, but love the updates, particularly the front of the '14 and up.
in the 2nd picture with the '14, you can see a 3rd gen in the back. you can see a lot more of the classic 3rd gen design cues in the current model than the 4th gen. to each his own, though. There's a lot of division in the t4r.org forums on it too.

I mean don't get me wrong it's still considerably better than 90% of the SUVs sold today, and 100% better than those bitch ass CUVs. 1/7/2015 12:46:22 PM |

the design of the '14 is a lot better than the '05, it's a lot more masculine 1/7/2015 2:03:06 PM |

Truck-based SUVs usually have a much more cramped interior compared unibodies, not to mention that the high floorpans make it easy to get in and get out. Unless you are offroading or towing massive loads, wagon or crossover is the way to go to haul families and their junk.
You probably don't want to hear this, but if you really want maximum space and comfort for your dollar, used minivans are the way to go. 1/7/2015 6:40:50 PM |

friends of ours bought a 2014 GMC Acadia. I was honestly kind of impressed. But my expectations of GM vehicles, especially interiors are very low. If i didn't know better, I would have felt just as if I was riding in a japanese or euro luxury car.
and it had captains chars in the second row, making the third row pretty accessible.
As far as people movers go, it's got minivan space, without being a minivan. 1/8/2015 9:49:13 AM |

Interior trim all depends on which level you buy. My sister bought the cheapest one and the interior plastics and cloth material are more low grade than the interior of my Integra. And let's not kid ourselves here, and GMC Acadia is a just a disguised minivan. From a design POV the only difference is the appearance that it's a truck, and traditional opening instead of sliding doors. It's really a master stroke by GM to be honest. 1/8/2015 11:12:44 AM |

on the trim level stuff-- true, but until recently, even the top trim levels had shitty interiors for most of the big three, just with leather. I'm sure there were some exceptions of course.
definitely agreed on the disguised minivan point. Hell, i'd argue that most "SUVs" on the market are disguised minivans/wagons. Remember when the Pathfinder was a viable offroad vehicle? 1/8/2015 2:44:04 PM |

We have been pretty happy with our GMC Terrain and it was pretty much the same stuff she was looking for as the OP. Basically a big car to haul stuff in no need for offroad and such. 1/8/2015 2:56:31 PM |
