for those of you who's work gives you a stipend/allowance to use your personal phone: does your phone then become "property" of the company, allowing them to monitor your usage or data history or anything like that? I carry a work phone that I hardly ever use, i would much rather them just provide me an extra $100 a month to use my personal phone for business needs also.

I only carry a work phone, I ditched the personal phone to save money. For awhile work charged me $5/month so I could add unlimited texting (we didn't have texting at the time), but now the boss texts all the time so its included.

yeah...see my company in the beginning were sticklers on texting and picture messaging until the higher ups realized how convenient it is for the field guys to send texts and pics instead of constantly calling into the PMs. But they are still stingy on data usage and things like that which still make keeping my personal phone the best scenario.

Not at all. The only thing IT did was go over how to access to your work email account. Nothing else was added to my phone. Other than that, it's just used for people to call me within our division during normal work hours (though I do have that number on my business cards I pass out at conferences, etc). I suppose the only way they could monitor my usage is if I log in to the public wifi.

i replied on page 1 back when i had a separate work phone. now i use my personal phone for work stuff too and they reimburse me $50/month. only downside is i have to deal with a 4 digit unlock code to unlock my phone. that's annoying as hell.

I only have one phone. I don't carry them on my belt. But if I have a dress with pockets it will go in there.

I do use my phone for work. I also have a smart watch which is a good way to get the texts and emails I need without pulling out my phone in front of the students.
