^^are you calling me wikipedia, or saying i looked that up in wikipedia? because i actually listened to the bands i listed and know they weren't around in '93.

^I'm trying to decide if i want to buy tickets for the amphitheater shows or just walk around fayetville street and catch some of the free shows.

^ I just did the free shows last year and had a great time. Can plop your chair down right in front of the stages.

I can't find any schedule or even a lineup, but I doubt I'll buy any tickets.

From what I can gather, this is the lineup of the ticketed Raleigh Convention Center Shows (not amphitheater like I said earlier)

http://www.wideopenbluegrass.com/ticketed-events-schedule

And this appears to be the free shows, although no line-ups are announced

My friend bought a bunch of tickets because they were so cheap and found out she has to work. So I guess I'm going and have like five free tickets.

Weezer is the only reason I'd go. Foster the People might be entertaining live. Fuel had a few decent songs back in the day.

got 'em cheap too...could sell for a ~$170 profit but I'll take a bunch of people instead.

Just saw Weezer and they were kinda meh. Excited about FTP but that's about it at this point.

This is not true.

Also, the last half-decent Weezer record was Maladroit. Even it's 12 years old at this point.

I really just hope that Weezer plays a lot of their old stuff (pre 2000). I like a few songs by FTP and Fitz, and around 7-8 songs by Fuel. I got my ticket for $12 so I can't really complain regardless of how the show goes, haha.

After checking the schedule, I really don't see any reason to show up before 3 pm.

Question about aftershows anyone that's been to ACL before...

A couple of the official ones I want to see are sold out, and the prices on stubhub are either outrageous or nonexistent. Is it pretty difficult to get into a sold out aftershow? Are there a bunch of unofficial aftershows that get announced day of that I'll have a chance to go to?

BTTT

2015 is just around the corner. My tentative plan

Merlefest
Shaky Knees - Atlanta (May) - this one is probably not gonna happen with Hangout the very next weekend.
Hangout Fest - Gulf Shores, AL (already booked and bought)
Forecastle Fest - Louisville, KY (July)

The Hangout Fest lineup is intriguing. Right near my dad's place too. He won VIP tickets a few years ago through mobile's radio station, still living myself for not making the trip down there to join him

The first four lines are shit. A lot of the rest is really good. But I'm assuming that all those bands will be doing pretty much every festival and wallowing in the heat for three days isn't my idea of fun anymore. I've done it once and that's enough for me.

there are definitely some gems in there, but the headliner list doesn't blow me away. Not that I wouldn't want to see Billy Joel, Kendrick Lamar, Robert Plant, the other headliner names on there aren't really doing it for me.

Yeah...i guess if all you are really looking at are the headliners as to whether it's a strong lineup it's not that impressive this year. but headliners are never really what i look forward to at things like this. So i agree, the first 3-4 lines aren't that jaw-dropping. But the meat of the undercard is fantastic.

I'm hoping Hangout will add 5-6 more bands before all is said and done. But i'm really looking forward to that trip.

Shaky Knees in ATL is releasing their lineup at noon. Will post when out.

Avett Bros are one of my favorites, and I'd love to see Trampled by Turtles. Plus it's like a 30 minute drive for me so that's a plus

TBT are heavy on the festival circuit this year which is great. I won't be able to do all of MF this year but will definitely be there one day.

I had a blast at Shaky Knees last year and really recommend it. It's moved from Atlantic Station to Central Park (where Music Midtown used to be) so i think it'll have more of a festival feel being on the grass. But it's honestly one of the most well planned festivals i've been to.

Last year we stayed at the GT Hotel & Conference Center and there were a lot of festival attendees there. Made for a lot of fun and the rates were very competitive.

Just got back from Merlefest, it was awesome. I was actually a little disappointed in Trampled by Turtles. Most of the band was great, but the fiddle player's solos were for the most part obnoxious, terrible, or obnoxiously terrible. When he was playing with the rest of the band he was great. They played my 3 favorite songs well though (Victory, Alone, Wait So Long) so I'm happy with it.

Hot Rize was fantastic though, and Bela Fleck might be the most talented musician I've ever seen live.
