I just want to say to the chucklefucks who think "it's simple to get an ID, it's no infringement at all" can go fuck themselves.

I can't even get a replacement license without jumping through hoops, spending time on the phone, taking time off of work, driving to different agencies, and having to request documentation from multiple governmental agencies.

I'm lucky that I have the means and resources to do all of this. If I was a poor person out in the country? Good fucking luck. It's not that simple you shitbrained mongrels.

Check the alleged voter fraud numbers for the same election. I had this debate at work a while ago, and the NC board of elections reported in 2012 that roughly 1 in a million votes was ALLEGED (not proven) to be fraudulent. Neither side of this argument has any real numerical backing.

^^^If you were a poor person out in the country, you could go to your local DMV and get it handled in about an hour; provided you had the proper documentation, a list of which is available online. We poor, country folks don't have to wait in line all day, standing outside with a bunch of 40 year old assholes sharing Xbox Gamertags so they can play Call of Duty together later, just to see someone at the DMV.

Or you could just order a duplicate online. Bing, bam, boom. No troubles, no wait, no time off, just some clicks and $13. Easy as pie.

Just because you live in the big city, doesn't mean everything is better there. Nor does it mean that you are more resourceful or intelligent. You stupid chucklefuck.

It's simple to get an ID, it's no infringement at all.

From your article

"Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said State Police found no evidence of voter fraud or voter suppression and that the charges against the workers arose from "a very bad, ill-advised business practice" of setting canvassers what appears to be a daily quota."

Lets try to read more than the title next time.

That no one is willing to commit voter fraud is strong evidence that voting simply doesn't matter. As such, until someone is willing to fake a vote, I don't think anyone should bother voting at all.

How lazy, incompetent, and stupid do you have to be as an adult, to not be capable of maintaining identification?

It says a lot about the DNC, when that is the base you are pandering to with your socialist bullshit.

lol, the Pence-Kobach voter fraud sham thing is actually pretty transparent but also thoughtless.

On the plus side all comments, in email and regular mail are available to view and they are glorious. Basically 30,000 comments calling them assholes and cunts. On the down side, they apparently didn't even engage in modest curation so all home emails, addresses and phone numbers are listed.

Clearly people we can trust with sensitive data

So the right firmly believes the left commits voter fraud to win (wait, don't they usually lose?) elections.

The left firmly believes the right passes laws to remove the ability for minorities and left-leaning individuals to vote.

Seems to me the easiest thing here is to call the right's bluff - pass laws requiring voter ID and then have the government issue an ID to every single person who is alive with a social security number.

That way, the right is happy everyone has an ID and the left is happy that now everyone can vote.

I bet the same exact numbers end up being tallied after votes are cast...

Idiot Logic:

Look, as long as I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm okay with the government intruding on my Constitutional Rights to keep me safe.

More Idiot Logic:

The government shouldn't have a right to require me to show proof that I can vote when I go to vote. There is no voter fraud! It's only a myth!

Neither of those statements profess any logic, they're just statements that you think are dumb and with which [I presume] you disagree.

I would also argue that both of those statements apply contradictory ideas to the conversation but maybe that was your point.

Apparently the absentee ones do. A normal In-person ballot I think is more complicated? I’m seeing people say conflicting things. I thought ballots had barcodes, which could me matched to boter rolls (ie they scan your name and the ballot when you are getting your ballot on election day I thought.)

Absentee ballots for NC have your name and address on them, a long with the name and signature of someone else verifying that you are the person for whom the ballot was created.

I don't believe normal "in-person" ballots have any identifiable information on there... but I haven't voted live in NC for a LONG time.

"The comments are particularly alarming because Kemp was already facing scrutiny over perceived attempts to suppress voters. As Rolling Stone pointed out, Kemp suspended more than 53,000 voter applications (70 percent of them filed by black people) because they violated a state “exact match” standard. That standard can dispel someone from Georgia’s voting records if a word is misspelled, or their address is incorrect, or even if a hyphen is misplaced, according to Rolling Stone.

Kemp also oversaw the purging of 107,000 voters from Georgia in 2017, largely because they hadn’t voted in several years, according to American Public Media."

oh lawd

I know this argument has been made 100s of times on here and probably 10s of thousands of times in the MSM and twitter, but its the perfect time for us all to ask:

Why is the legislature so concerned with restricting IN PERSON voting while ABSENTEE voting just gets to keep doing its thing. Logically and empirically, absentee is much easier to rig.

one of our senators voted against federal funds to secure voting infrastructure and the other abstained from voting

and something like a third or half of our counties use direct electronic voting instead of paper ballots and tabulators

voter ID has never been about voter security

Interactive map showing the % of voters that requested absentee ballots:
http://rpubs.com/ejsbrocco_ncpol/abs_ballotRequests

Most of NC is in the 1%-5% range. Bladen County looks to range between 10-15%. So a shit ton of absentee ballots really did get requested apparently.

Making it a holiday is a first step.

^^You consider doctors working class folks? But I get your point. You can't even have Thanksgiving off if you work at Kohls. The pay has to be mandated. But it would be a scheduling nightmare if people have to wait in line for hours. It's not like these retailers, fire and police forces would just close for voting day.

i never said only working class people still work on holidays

a voting holiday is fine but it's not some magic bullet. a voting holiday would make much less of an impact than extended early voting and increased voting locations, for example,

banning absentee voting is a bad solution too, since it would disenfranchise people who have legitimate needs for absentee ballots
