I only saw the first half but we are much further compared to last year's spring game. I liked what i saw from Brisset in the game other than that one pick he threw into double coverage. He has good leadership, a good arm, is quick, and plays with swagger. The o-line was getting hammered which forced him out of the pocket a lot but he's quick enough to create a play of his own... i just hope he stays healthy the entire season. Bo Hines is a freshman receiver to pay attention to this season. Last, it was nice to see Russel Wilson jersey get retired at NC State. Wolfpack nation was gravitating towards him and i never seen anything like it, but that what happens when you win the Superbowl.

usually the red team is 1st string O and 2nd string D, white team is 2nd string O and 1st string D.

That makes way more sense to me than having 1st vs 2nd on the field. anyone know why they did that?

IMO, that takes all the fun out of the game. If I want to see the starters play a team which is worse at literally every single position, I'll go to the Ga. Southern game. I want to see 1st team vs. equivalent competition on both sides of the ball. Would have gone to the R&W if I were in town anyway, but still disappointing.

From what I'm understanding about the game, here are things we, as fans, learned about the team:

Our D-Line is similar to the past several years: not studded with superstars, but strong and very deep.
Our O-line is deserving of a Charles Barkley impression.
We will see the impact of Doeren's recruiting starting now.

And 1s go versus 2s in lots of Spring games. It creates a competitive environment. You want 2nd teamers to go out there and try and prove they should be on the first team...and first teamers don't want to be shown up.

And from a fan's standpoint...you don't want to watch two shitty 2nd teams going against each other. This isn't Alabama...where their 2nd team would probably play in the Peach Bowl.

I think he has a point...the TOB last group of recruits lacked talent...our team last year was full of average players. Nothing ACC caliber on the offensive side.

He already has a true freshmen at center, WRs that are fresh/soph stealing the spotlight and Matt Dayes playing/running well.

His recruiting def is already shining through compared to the talentless group we were stuck with.

Glennon made his senior year team look a LOT better than they were.

When I looked over the recruits that DD got us, they didn't look too impressive. Yeah, they were better than what we have had, but they are still no where near the level that we need to get to a 5-6 win season.

I'll give DD this season to prove that he isn't a bad coach, but if he can't get us to at least 5 wins then I think Yow needs to start shopping again.

I think its too early to draw conclusions from the new recruits. The only conclusion im confident in making is that our quarterback play will be much improved this year. Some guy in TWW said that Brisset sucked and some folks claimed he was garbage b/c he couldn't start over Driskel but i liked what i saw even if it was against the 2nd team. It seems like our o-line had been a lingering problem. I remember Russel Wilson scrambling more than any other ACC QB because our o-line was so porous. I saw a lot of short passes during the scrimmage which seems like a good way to neutralize this issue. Thornton was on the 2nd team offense but he couldn't get much going so that means our d line is pretty tough or he needs to get in better shape. Doeren has the tools to run his system so this is his year to prove his worth.

No idea as I wasn't there, but from everything I've read (including what yrey said), it sounds like offensive line is still a weakness. Kinda hard to say Doeren has all the tools if the offensive line is not very strong.

I was there, and if Jacoby plays the entire season, there is no way in hell we'll approach last year. We were historically bad at qb and our home schedule is laughably easy.

It may not of been the best choice of words but he has the most important element to run his system which is a dual threat quarterback. Last year he had several zero threat QBs. I just hope Brisset is resilient b/c I imagine him taking some hits this year.
