Are both of those statements possible assumptions for the Ferrari? Because the Ferrari is heavier and more powerful than the GT, and gets better fuel economy.

Nobody forced Ford to use their truck engine. Myself (and most) would suspect that they did it to boost the prestige/image of their Ecoboost line (and this engine is used in racing as well) but they should have used another engine. Toyota sold their LFA for similar money and spared no expense on it's bespoke engine, that glorious V10 screamer.

I wonder how much of the interior was parts bin? You can blame the designers all you want, but they have a lot of constraints for the actual production car.

There's really not enough information to get to that level of detailed comparison. For example you'd have to look at the raw data showing the torque curves and see what kind of funny business might have been done with the intake and exhaust, or the intercooler temps. Advertised power and torque numbers are REALLY sketchy in a lot of cases. I've seen some ethically questionable shit from more than one manufacturer.

People buy their car, put it on a dynojet, and then calculate some kind of drivetrain loss. But they're not taking into account some of the tricks these manufacturers do to get the numbers they report. It's not like advertised fuel economy where the government is looking over their shoulder.

My understanding is that the LFA actually struggled to find buyers, and ended up going to the owners of Lexus dealerships mostly as a sort of favor to Toyota. The consensus was that it wasn't built well and couldn't compete with cars of that price range. That's what an industry friend of mine told me, but I don't have any more information than that.

it's not like they had to design a new motor. the dohc flat crank v8 from the gt350 makes it into a 50k car. the interior looks like a lot of focus st reused stuff
