Please explain how I'm "mindless" when information right from jenny McCarthys website Mercks insert for the vitamin k shot says...
Quote : | " WARNING--INTRAVENOUS AND INTRAMUSCULAR USE
Severe reactions, including fatalities, have occurred during and immediately after INTRAVENOUS injection of AquaMEPHYTON * (Phytonadione), even when precautions have been taken to dilute the AquaMEPHYTON and to avoid rapid infusion. Severe reactions, including fatalities, have also been reported following INTRAMUSCULAR administration. Typically these severe reactions have resembled hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis, including shock and cardiac and/or respiratory arrest. Some patients have exhibited these severe reactions on receiving AquaMEPHYTON for the first time. Therefore the INTRAVENOUS and INTRAMUSCULAR routes should be restricted to those situations where the subcutaneous route is not feasible and the serious risk involved is considered justified." |

so apparently almost all of the allergic reactions come from IV application, which is only used if the baby comes back in already bleeding.
http://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-for-the-vitamin-k-shot-in-newborns/
Quote : | " As far as allergic reactions to the Vitamin K shot, almost all of the cases in history occurred with the intravenous (IV) form, something that is never used in the newborn period unless an infant comes in with vitamin K deficiency bleeding.
Side effects from vitamin K injection given at birth are incredibly rare and if they are seen, they end up being case reports due to rarity.
I could not find any case reports using the most recent version of vitamin K used in the U.S., in which the infant became severely ill or died from it. Before the 1960s (mostly in the 1950s) there were some reports of severe jaundice and anemia, as the dose was not determined and the formulation was quite different. During this time they were using a water soluble version of the vitamin K shot and following these cases, they changed to the fat soluble version that is used today.
In 2014, researchers published a case report about an infant who had a severe allergic reaction to the shot and went into shock. The infant survived, but researchers were unable to figure out why the newborn had this type of reaction. They noted that this was the first case ever reported in which an infant went into an allergic shock from Vitamin K, when the shot has been given all over the world for many decades (Koklu et al. 2014)." |

I will never vaccinate my children mostly because I'm bad with needles. A nurse should probably be giving these shots. 3/14/2015 12:33:06 AM |

Quote : | "WAKE HEALTH OFFICIALS SPREADING WORD ABOUT MEASLES RISK
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Wake County teenager, who contracted measles while traveling in Europe, has just been released from isolation.
The teen has not been identified and health officials would not say how long he was in isolation.
People are placed in isolation when they are contagious and considered a public health threat.
Wake County Health officials are focusing their efforts on people he came in contact with who have not been immunized.
The virus can be deadly and is highly contiguous.
"The risk is pretty high. If you put ten people in a room who are not vaccinated and you put someone with measles in the room with them, nine of the people will get sick," said Wake County Medical Director Dr. Kimberly McDonald.
If you or your children are covered with the two vaccinations, officials say there is no risk. If you aren't protected, it could take up to 21 days for someone to start seeing symptoms.
Officials are scrambling to alert thousands of people exposed to the virus. "It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort, but that's what we're here to do," McDonald said.
The Cary YMCA has sent out a notification to its 5,500 members. The email warns the patient was at the Y last week, and spent most of his time in the weight room and men's locker.
The center was one of nine spots the teen visited before seeking treatment." |
