We have been at war for almost a decade and a half. What would be considered winning at this point? If anything we have only worsened the extremism by our escapades in the Middle East. ISIS is a prime example of that. At some point it has to end. Perpetual war is not sustainable.

Jeez, when I heard it may have been a dispute over parking, my first thought was that it happened in the parking lot after someone's parking space was taken, in a heat of the moment situation.


now it sounds like Hicks would go over to their apartment with his gun, and tell them they couldn't use the visitor parking spot. and that the murder happened in their home when Hicks went there.

He turned himself in. If they can prove it was a hate crime, I'm sure it will be a death penalty case.

Said it in the other thread, but this place seems a lot less rampant with the politicizing of this. You know, the people CERTAIN it was a hate crime when very little information has come out thus far.

So apparently this guy lived directly above a very close friend of mine for almost 3 years. They used to grill out, toss the football, and that kind of stuff. He just sent a long email out talking about him. He said in those several years he never heard anything racist or hateful regarding people of other colors or religions.

He'll probably admit to doing it, that's why. I think hate crimes are federal crimes, and regardless of a confession he could/probably will get death.

I, like everyone else should also realize, really don't know if it was a hate crime or not at this point. It just sickens me how everyone is rushing to judgement on that issue.

I think the Independent Weekly endorses the idea that if a minority is involved in an event like this, it's automatically a hate crime. I think those people need to stick to endorsing (terrible) local bands and trendy, overpriced restaurants, personally.

The execution style headshots make you think it might have been anti-islam motivated, but he posted all the time on his FB account and outside of hating on all religions, there isn't anything anti-islam there, and he posted all the time.

maybe these victims acted like typical young adults and finally told him to go fuck off, at which point he snapped. Doesn't make it any less wrong, but something out of the ordinary had to set him off. and being told to go fuck yourself by the kid parking in your spot might have done it.
