As far as using the Civil Rights Act to get them kicked out...that sounds like it might be a little tricky.
If a bunch of white guys on a bus sing racist chants to each other, did they really violate anyone's rights? Obviously they are all racists, but if one racist is talking to another racist about racist things, but no one is around to take offense, was an offense committed? I guess that can change the minute the video was uploaded to social media, because at that point it definitely offended people. But then, should you charge the person that uploaded it?

Let them fight it in court if they can afford it, and stick it on their transcripts. I personally wouldn't fight to stay at a school that doesn't want me, with a student body that hates me etc.

That's what I'm thinking. The school doesn't need any specific justification to kick them out, outside of the video. They would have never been accepted if the school knew they were like this.

However, kicking them out is only a band aid. It allows America to just sweep this under the rug, and pretend systemic racism isn't a problem. In a better world, all that is needed would be to kick them out.

In our world, I'd rather see them apologize and have to answer to their black peers and perhaps bring some light to their dark souls. Just kicking them out is too easy.

America in the past was a horribly racist country, politicians at all levels would be proud to say they were in the KKK. they would shamelessly give speeches calling blacks animals and subhumans who shouldn't be around white people.

Racial animosity isn't a fact of life, although it seems that way. It was built up from a hundred years of political and social rehetoric against non-whites, by the white majority. This was the whole basis of the civil rights era... I get the feeling people think the civil rights era was just black people complaining about a bunch of stuff needlessly, and not an inevitable response to rampant racism and oppression.

From experience and in my opinion its only intimidating for whites to join in with blacks. While I attended an HBCU I only remember seeing 1 white student in 2 years there as an Engineering student. I've also never seen a White pledge a Black Frat or Sorority while I know first had of blacks that have pledged into white groups. In my opinion somewhere around middle school parents/society get involved and whites go their separate ways and blacks theirs. This is how it was in my rural area growing up. 5th grade, whites and blacks were friends, come back to school for 6th grade whites and blacks self segregated.

Also another reasoning behind the segregation of these groups is people want to group up with people that are like them. Would you join a group of black people that you don't understand and probably have been raised to fear (Yes not all white parents do this, but southern ones do it at an alarming rate)? The same goes for a black person, you couldn't pay me to go join the farmhouse frat/club wtfever it is at state.

blah blah Blacks are more likely to join a white group than whites are to join a black group the end.

Have any of you ever had the pleasure of walking into a room of 100 and being the only white person there? I did this for 4 years at state, without issue.

I remember one time back in college the guys who lived across the hall from me invited me to goto a party with them. I ended up going to I believe Talley with them and when we got there they told me this was something for like all the chapters in the State of some certain Frat or something and it was an all black organization. They thought it would be funny to invite me and see my reaction. I said this will be awesome and got my dance on with all the ladies and was having a good time. I am sure they were laughing at me mostly because I was white and looking like a fool but that was fine it was all in good fun. Then a fight broke out downstairs and guys were throwing chairs and shit at each other and I am not gonna lie I turned to those guys and was like fuck this I am outta here if this escalates I stick out like a sore thumb.. I left out the back door haha.
